1. The Prime Minister’s Office PMO held a high level review meeting yesterday to review possible impact of El Niño on various sectors and preparedness measures. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, Dr PK Mishra, at the Seva Theerth.
2. Road, Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has said that India has become the first country in the world to commercially produce bio-bitumen in road construction. Bitumen is a black, viscous mixture of hydrocarbons produced by the fractionation of crude oil, and it serves as a crucial binder in road construction. While addressing the CSIR Technology Transfer Ceremony in New Delhi, the Minister congratulated CSIR on this historic milestone.
3. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan yesterday launched the Pragati project aimed at empowering over twenty thousand agricultural entrepreneurs and 20 lakh farmers. The Agriculture Minister said that the government has decided to train 26,000 small agricultural entrepreneurs under the Pragati program. He said that these entrepreneurs work within a village and collaborate with 100-200 farmers to transform the village’s agriculture.
4. Union Health Minister J. P. Nadda chaired a high-level meeting in New Delhi with Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth to strengthen support for the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.
5. AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Monday demanded that the Congress government in Telangana provide ‘Permanent Residence Certificate’ to people by finalising certain criteria to ensure that eligible voters do not lose their vote during the ongoing SIR.
6. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay urged the Union government to retain the existing entitlement of 35 kilograms of foodgrains per month for every household covered under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY), irrespective of the number of family members, as has been the practice since the enactment of the National Food Security Act (NFSA).
7. Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan held a meeting with Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma in New Delhi to review the implementation of Viksit Bharat GRAM G and other rural development programs in the state.
8. Union Health and Family Welfare Minister JP Nadda chaired a virtual review meeting with Keralm Health Minister, K. Muraleedharan to review the implementation and progress of key health programmes and public health initiatives in the state.
9. Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari said that flagship infrastructure projects, including the 14-kilometre Zojila Tunnel, 36 tunnels on the Jammu-Srinagar corridor, the Kedarnath Ropeway, and enhanced road connectivity from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, are strengthening connectivity and accelerating the country’s development.
10. The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet approved the renaming of Jalalabad town in Shahjahanpur district as Parshurampuri on 6 July 2026. The decision also applies to the municipal body, which will be known as Parshurampuri Nagar Palika Parishad.
11. The UP Cabinet has approved the Data Center Policy 2026 to attract over ₹2 lakh crore in investment, create AI-ready infrastructure, and generate thousands of jobs across Uttar Pradesh.
12. Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah announced the establishment of a Cooperative Life Insurance Company and the expansion of the Bharat Taxi platform to 500 cities over the next two years during the fifth Foundation Day of the Ministry of Cooperation. The proposed insurance company aims to strengthen the cooperative sector, promote financial inclusion, and expand access to insurance services.
13. Gujarat is constructing its first two air-filled rubber dams across the Heran River in Chhota Udepur district and the Ambika River in Tapi district. The projects use South Korean technology and are designed for water storage, irrigation, and flood management. Air-Filled Rubber Dam

14. The Central government appointed new heads for the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D), the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), and the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) on 6 July 2026. The appointments were approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), which is chaired by the Prime Minister of India.
15. India appointed Sanjeev Jain, an Indian Foreign Service (IFS) office, as new Ambassador to North Korea. This announcement was made public by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on July 6, 2026. Jain will take on this new diplomatic appointment soon after completing his current assignment as India’s Ambassador to Cabo Verde.
16. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall over parts of Coastal Karnataka, Gujarat, Konkan and Goa, and Madhya Maharashtra.
Heavy rainfall is also likely over parts of Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, East Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Interior Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.

1. The Telangana High Court has quashed FIRs lodged against Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for obstructing traffic and causing inconvenience while conducting road-shows at different locations as part of his campaign for the 2019 Huzurnagar by-elections. The CM was booked under IPC Sections 341(wrongful restraint) and 188(Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant).
2. Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra governments reached an agreement on pending issues related to the Narmada Project in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. This resolved the decades-old dispute regarding the displacement of people from flood-affected areas and compensation for land in the Narmada River Project.
3. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) issued notices on 6 July 2026 to Heritage Foods Limited, Dia Foods, and Cipzer Nutraceuticals for alleged misleading claims and labelling violations. The authority functions under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and regulates food safety, advertising claims, and product labelling in India.

Girish Bharadwaj, a Padma Shri awardee known as the “Bridge Man of India”, died at the age of 76 on 7 July 2026 in a private hospital in Sullia in Dakshina Kannada district, Karnataka. 1. The disengagement process at the Depsang and Demchok regions of eastern Ladakh has been completed between India and China after four and a half years of military standoff along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). According to Army sources, talks will continue at the local commander’s level, and border patrolling will resume soon.
2. INS Mahendragiri (F38) is the sixth indigenous stealth frigate of the Indian Navy and is scheduled for commissioning on 11 July 2026 at Visakhapatnam. The warship will join the Eastern Fleet under the Eastern Naval Command after delivery to the Navy on 30 April 2026.

3. Ugram Indigenous Assault Rifle Clears Army Trials: It cleared the Indian Army’s General Staff Qualitative Requirement trials and the Ministry of Home Affairs Board trials in July 2026.
It is an indigenous 7.62×51mm assault rifle developed in India by the Armament Research and Development Establishment, a laboratory of the Defence Research and Development Organisation, and Dvipa Defence India Private Limited.
