1. Vice President Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have congratulated Indian weightlifter Mirabai Chanu on winning a gold medal at the ongoing Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
The 31-year-old lifter produced a record-breaking performance, lifting 85kg in the snatch to set a Commonwealth and Games record in the category. She then lifted 105kg in the clean and jerk, another Games record, to finish with a total of 190kg. With this victory, Mirabai Chanu won her third consecutive Commonwealth Games gold medal, having also bagged the yellow metal in the 2018 and 2022 editions. It is also India’s first gold medal at the ongoing Commonwealth Games.
2. At the ongoing Commonwealth Games, India’s Rishikanta Singh Chanambam won the silver medal in the Men’s 60kg weightlifting event in Glasgow.
3. Top-seed Anahat Singh has scripted history by becoming the country’s first squash player to win the junior world title after defeating Egypt’s Ruqayya Salem 3-0 in the girls’ singles final of the World Squash Junior Championships 2026 at Niagara-on-the-Lake, Canada.
The 18-year-old Indian prodigy overcame second seed Salem 11-3, 11-7, 11-9 to win the gold medal.
4. In Men’s Cricket, India defeated hosts Zimbabwe by 35 runs in the third and final T20 international to clean sweep the series three-nil in Harare. Chasing a target of 193 runs set by India, Zimbabwe managed to score 157 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs. For India, Mayank Yadav clinched three, while Yash Thakur took two wickets.
