The Brisbane 2032 Organising Committee (Brisbane 2032) is moving from vision to action, with a founding commercial partner announced and increasing engagement across communities, all helping to strengthen the long-term impact of the Games, according to the latest update to the International Olympic Committee (IOC)’s Coordination Commission (CoCom).
Discussions during the fourth annual CoCom meeting, held online this week, highlighted how the recently launched Games vision – co-created with Queenslanders and Australians – is now being applied in practice, guiding progress from “belief” in the opportunity to the Games “becoming” a reality.
Speaking about the latest updates, the Chair of the IOC CoCom, Mikaela Cojuangco Jaworski, said: “The launch of the Brisbane 2032 vision has been an important milestone, setting a clear, shared direction for the journey ahead. What is particularly encouraging is that we’re already seeing this vision in action, with engagement across sports, communities and partners, reflecting a genuine commitment to building these Games together. This early momentum is also reflected in the depth and detail of the planning underway, laying the foundations that will support Brisbane 2032 in delivering Games aligned with their long-term vision and ambition.”
Following the meeting, Brisbane 2032 Organising Committee President Andrew Liveris said: “We are progressing at pace, moving from vision and planning to delivery and action. Our Games vision is in place, and our supplier portal is open, with more than 2,500 businesses registered to date. The Commonwealth Bank of Australia has been announced as our sole founding partner and the first domestic commercial partner for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Community engagement across Queensland and beyond has also reached thousands of excited fans.
“At the same time, venue and legacy infrastructure delivery is well underway – led by the Australian and Queensland governments – and our broader Games Delivery Partners are continuing to plan for what will be an incredible home Games in just over six years’ time.
“Our focus ahead includes unveiling our emblems, announcing more commercial partners, finalising our sports programme and venue master plan, and amplifying our engagement across businesses and communities.
“Brisbane 2032 thanks the leadership of the Coordination Commission for their continued support, coupled with our Games Delivery Partners for their collaboration, as we pursue our path towards 2032.”
Coordination Commission report
The Coordination Commission meeting provided the opportunity for Brisbane 2032 to cover some of these topics in more detail, as described below.
Where is momentum already visible?
Early delivery momentum is becoming increasingly visible, with engagement turning into results across the commercial market, community aspects, international outreach and venue planning.
Brisbane 2032 reported encouraging engagement with the commercial market, which has already resulted in the announcement of its first domestic partner – alongside positive interest from other prospective partners.
Engagement activity is also expanding across Queensland, Australia and wider Oceania. In state, more than 11,500 school children have been engaged through outreach programmes, alongside hundreds of schools and thousands of businesses – reflecting growing awareness and participation in the Games journey.
The procurement strategy, launched in late 2025, is further strengthening this connection between the Games and local enterprises. An estimated AUD 2.5 billion (USD 1.64 billion) in contracts will be made available via a supplier portal, and more than 80 per cent of the Organising Committee’s current supplier spending is already directed to local companies, including 44 per cent to small and medium-sized businesses.
Internationally, Brisbane 2032 is increasing its visibility and learning from future hosts, including through on-site engagement at the recent Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games, while also preparing to showcase Brisbane and Queensland through Australia House at the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
How is sports and venue planning progressing?
Consultation with International Federations is underway, ensuring sport-specific technical requirements are embedded early into venue and operational planning.
This engagement is taking place in anticipation of IOC and International Paralympic Committee (IPC) sports programme decisions expected towards the end of this year, providing a structured pathway to finalising the competition framework.
Alongside this, venue and Village planning continues, supported by technical, operational and financial assessments to ensure athlete experience, long-term legacy and regional balance remain central to decision-making.
How is Brisbane 2032’s engagement-led approach taking shape?
The Organising Committee also outlined how early engagement is now translating into structured collaboration across all areas of Games planning – reflecting a shift towards more integrated delivery and shared ownership.
A key feature of this phase is the expansion of advisory groups, bringing together perspectives from athletes, sports, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, host councils and commercial partners. These groups are playing an increasingly important role in shaping planning decisions and ensuring the Games reflect a broad range of expertise and lived experience.
At governance level, Brisbane 2032 has established clear delivery responsibilities and strengthened coordination mechanisms among partners, enabling more aligned planning, reporting and decision-making as preparation accelerates.
What’s next?
Several key milestones now lie ahead for Brisbane 2032. In addition to the Olympic and Paralympic sports programme approval, which will be a crucial step towards finalising venue planning, Brisbane 2032 is preparing to reveal the Games emblem in the third quarter of this year, further building visibility and engagement across Queensland and Australia. The Organising Committee is also aiming to build on its strong start with commercial partnerships, underpinned by positive engagement with the market, and expects momentum to continue into 2027.
The Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games will take place between 23 July and 8 August, with the Paralympic Games held from 24 August until 5 September.
