Nine people were killed and 11 others were hospitalised due to an incident of gas leakage in a factory in Giaspura area in Punjab’s Ludhiana on Sunday. The injured were rushed to a hospital, police said. It is not known what caused the gas leakage. They have sealed the area while a fire brigade and an ambulance have been deployed there

1. PM Modi will share his thoughts with the people of the country and abroad in the Mann Ki Baat programme on All India Radio at 11 AM today, April 30. It will be the 100th episode of the monthly radio programme.

2. National Testing Agency (NTA) on Saturday declared the final NTA scores for Joint Entrance Examination (Main) 2023. 1. Former Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Jawahar Prasad has been arrested by Bihar Police in connection with its investigation into communal clashes that erupted during a Ram Navami procession in Sasaram district in March this year.

2. The Enforcement Directorate has conducted searches at the home and offices of Byju’s CEO Raveendran in Bengaluru today, April 29. In a tweet, the ED has said that they conducted searches at three premises of Byju in Bengaluru under the Provisions of Foreign Exchange Management Act, FEMA.Delhi Police has registered two FIRs against Wrestling Federation of India Chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh in connection with sexual harassment allegations levelled by women wrestlers

ENGINEERING STUDENT STABBED TO DEATH DURING COLLEGE FEST : A fourth-year mechanical engineering student died after he was allegedly stabbed in the chest during a fest at REVA University in Bengaluru on Friday. The victim was identified as 22-year-old Bhaskar Jetty from Gujarat. He was reportedly stabbed by someone from a rival group after a scuffle broke out.

4. Delhi Police has registered two FIRs against Wrestling Federation of India Chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh in connection with sexual harassment allegations levelled by women wrestlers.

1. Navies of India, Indonesia begin coordinated patrol exercise. There is a “large presence” of Chinese vessels in the Indian Ocean Region and India keeps a “very close watch” on the developments in the region to protect and preserve its national interests in the maritime domain, Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar said on Saturday.

2. A mountain cycling expedition of 12 Army soldiers was flagged off from Leh to Kargil on 25 April to pay tribute to war heroes and celebrate the World Day for Safety and Health. School students assembled at the venue to cheer on the participating soldiers and were seen waving the national flag.

3. Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has told his Chinese counterpart that military deployments on their disputed Himalayan frontier were undermining relations and called for disengagement to preserve “peace and tranquillity”.Relations between the two Asian super powers have been fraught since a high-altitude Gulwan valley clash.

4. Around 151 gentleman cadets and 35 woman cadets were commissioned into the Army after a passing out parade at Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Chennai on Saturday.

Bangladesh Army Chief Gen SM Shafiuddin Ahmed reviewed the passing out parade at the Officer’s Training Academy at Chennai. He complimented the cadets on an impeccable parade.

5. In a historic first, the Indian Army has inducted five women officers into its Regiment of Artillery and three of them have been posted to frontline formations along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China. The Regiment of Artillery is a major combat support arm.

The commissioning of women officers into the Regiment of Artillery is a testament to the ongoing transformation in the Indian Army.

6. Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Kashmir Vijay Kumar on Saturday held a high-level meeting at south Kashmir’s Anantnag on National Highway (NHW) security with a special focus on the emerging threat of Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) and other modes of the potential terror attack.
