Central Reserve Police Force head constable Arup Saini who was killed in a militant attack in Manipur was cremated with full honours in his native village in West Bengal’s Bankura district on Sunday. Two Central Reserve Police Force personnel were killed and two others injured after militants attacked a camp of security forces in Manipur’s Bishnupur district in the early hours of Saturday.

1. The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear a plea by the Mamata government in West Bengal against the Calcutta High Court’s order , which directed for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the allegations of crimes against women and land grabbing in Sandeshkhali.

A team of NSG commandoes reached Sandeshkhali on Friday afternoon hours after the CBI recovered arms and ammunition — including foreign-made pistols.

2. The Supreme Court today (29 April) will hear the appeal filed by the West Bengal government against the Calcutta High Court order invalidating the appointments of 25,753 teachers and non-teaching staff made in 2016 by the state’s School Service Commission (SSC).

6. The Delhi high court has granted a man serving a life term for murder two weeks’ parole to attend his engagement ceremony and wedding.

Granting the relief to Rahul Dev, the court noted that he was granted parole earlier as well and he had surrendered on time. Dev was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment in 2014 for the offences of murder and causing the disappearance of evidence or giving false information to screen offender under the Indian Penal Code.

7. A court in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district has dismissed the anticipatory bail plea of Vijay Kumar Shukla alias Munna Shukla, the Rashtriya Janata Dal candidate from Vaishali Lok Sabha seat, in a case of alleged land grab.

1. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has instructed Talkcharge Technologies to halt the issuance and operation of its Prepaid Payment Instruments (PPIs) or wallets . This directive follows the RBI’s observation of the firm issuing wallets without proper authorization. As a result, Talkcharge must refund the balances held in these wallets to customers by 17 May 2024.

1. CDS GEN ANIL CHAUHAN CONCLUDES FRANCE VISIT : Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan visited France and reaffirmed the long-standing strategic partnership between New Delhi and Paris and further reinforced the bilateral defence cooperation between the two nations.

2. The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) intercepted 86 kg of narcotics worth ₹600 crore from a Pakistani boat off the Gujarat coast on Sunday. The 14 crew members who were attempting to smuggle the drugs into India were arrested and brought to Porbandar for further investigations.

3. INDIAN NAVY RESCUES PANAMA-FLAGGED CRUDE OIL TANKER CREW AFTER MISSILE ATTACK : The Indian Navy said it averted an incident involving an attack on Panama-flagged crude oil tanker MV Andromeda Star PM on April 26. INS Kochi responded to a distress call, adding the vessel was intercepted by an Indian Navy warship. A total of 30 crew, including 22 Indian nationals, were reported to be safe.

4. The Indian Air Force has inducted the Rampage long-range supersonic air-to-ground missiles which can hit targets at around 250 Km. The missile known as the High-Speed Low Drag-Mark 2 missile in the Indian Air Force was reportedly used in a big way by the Israeli Air Force during its recent attacks on Iranian targets.

The Indian Air Force has inducted the Rampage in its Russian-origin aircraft fleet including the Su-30 MKI and MiG-29 fighters along with the Jaguar fighter jets.

5. The Indian Defence Ministry’s Goa Shipyard Limited signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Damen Shipyards for collaborating in the field of e-Tugs, in the presence of the Netherlands’ Minister of Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, Liesje Schreinemacher.

The MoU further paves the way for new vistas in providing cutting-edge, reliable, and green solutions to Indian ports, according to Goa Shipyard Limited.

6. Two Lashkar terrorists who were killed in an anti-terror operation in Sopore in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday were from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) and Pakistan, sources said.

Terrorists identified as Sanam Zafar and Abdul Wahab Arrived in North Kashmir a month ago & lived in forest.

7. Indian Army on Friday evening foiled a drone intrusion attempt by Pakistan along the Line of Control in Pallanwala sector of Akhnoor sub-division of Jammu. Multiple rounds were fired at the Pakistani drone from over four posts of Indian Army and searches were launched immediately after the incident.

8. On 26 April 2024, the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Group Headquarters in Pune hosted the Annual Training Conference, bringing together all Group Commanders for a day of reflection and celebration. Major General Yogender Singh, VSM, Additional Director General (ADG) of the NCC Directorate Maharashtra, presided over the conference.
