1. The Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026 was introduced in the Lok Sabha. The Bill seeks to amend the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024.

6. Yesterday was the death anniversary of former president and renowned scientist Bharat Ratna Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam popularly known as the Missile Man of India. Dr Kalam remembered as one of the greatest teachers ever. He played a pivotal role in India’s defence and space research development.
7. The Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Jan Arogya Yojana (MJPJAY) is a premium health insurance initiative started by the Maharashtra government for providing cashless medical treatment to poor families. It was launched in the year 2012 (previously known as the Rajiv Gandhi Jeevandayee Arogya Yojana) to ensure that financial problems do not prevent citizens from getting good healthcare.
8. The West Bengal government will felicitate 100 toppers from the state in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) on Tuesday.
9. Odisha is grappling with an intensifying monsoon crisis as a deep depression over the Bay of Bengal continues to bring heavy rainfall across the state.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast an orange color warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall over Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand today. 1. The Uttar Pradesh government yesterday informed the Supreme Court that it has set up a four-member Special Investigation (SIT) headed by Inspector General of Police (IG) for the Lucknow Range, Kiran S to probe the alleged embezzlement of the donations received by the Ram Temple Trust in Ayodhya.
2. The Bombay High Court yesterday granted permission to Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari to file a civil suit against Meta Platforms, X Corp, Google LLC, and other unidentified persons over the alleged circulation of defamatory deepfake and AI-generated content online.
3. The government has refuted a post circulating on social media, claiming that the centre will impose a ban on Instagram in India starting from the night of 25th of next month. The Fact Check Unit of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) said that the claim is fake. The Unit clarified that no such announcement has been made by the Government.
4. Gujarat launched the Cyber Financial Fraud e-Zero FIR service in Gandhinagar on 27 July 2026. The system allows victims of cyber financial fraud to register complaints from home through the national cybercrime helpline 1930, and it generates an e-Zero FIR for transfer to the concerned police station.
5. India approved the manufacture and use of anhydrous ammonia as a fertiliser for a three-year period on 23 July 2026. Anhydrous ammonia contains 82% nitrogen and is used as a direct nitrogen source in agriculture.

1. Former Uttarakhand minister Hira Singh Bisht died on 26 July 2026 at the age of 85 in Dehradun. He died of cardiac arrest while undergoing treatment in a hospital. Bisht was a senior leader of the Indian National Congress and served as a three-term Member of the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly from Doiwala and Rajpur constituencies.
2. In Jammu and Kashmir, a fresh landslide yesterday blocked the 250-km strategic Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH44) in the Udhampur district, while the main bridge in the Doda district was temporarily closed to vehicular movement after suspected cracks triggered a safety inspection.
The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) had deployed machinery to clear the debris and restore traffic at the earliest.

1. Vice President C P Radhakrishnan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh yesterday extended greetings to all personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on their Raising Day.
Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Raising Day is observed annually on July 27 to mark the founding of India’s largest Central Armed Police Force. It commemorates the establishment of the force as the Crown Representative’s Police in 1939.
2. In Ladakh, the 6th Lieutenant Governor’s Cup Horse Polo Tournament concluded yesterday at the Goshan International Polo Stadium in Drass. Eighteen teams, including three women’s teams, participated in the tournament, highlighting the growing popularity of the sport across the region.
The Ladakh Scouts Regimental Centre of the Indian Army emerged as champions, defeating the Animal Husbandry Department team 2-0 in the final to lift the coveted trophy.
