1. President Smt Droupadi Murmu arrived in Sikkim on a three-day visit. She visited the Orchidarium and Namgyal Institute of Tibetology.

2. The Government of Gujarat on Monday (May 25, 2026) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Meta Platforms Inc. to introduce WhatsApp-based access to government services across the State.

3. Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal, and Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Rajiv Ranjan Singh held a high-level meeting to deliberate on a roadmap for accelerating the growth of India’s seafood sector and strengthening the country’s global export competitiveness.

7. Former Chief Architect of Arunachal Pradesh, Techi Gubin, has been awarded the Padma Shri in recognition of his decades-long contribution to tribal welfare, indigenous faith, and community development.

8. President Droupadi Murmu conferred the Padma Awards on 25 May during the first Civil Investiture Ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan. This year, the Government of India has announced 131 Padma honours, including five Padma Vibhushan, 13 Padma Bhushan and 113 Padma Shri awards.

9. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has clarified that there has been no security breach in its actual On Screen Marking system used for evaluation of answer books. The Board said that the URL is the testing site only with sample data for internal testing and review purposes.

10. Uttar Pradesh govt extends role of gram pradhans as administrators after panchayat tenure ends.

Uttar Pradesh government has appointed outgoing village pradhans as administrators of gram panchayats until new bodies are formed, or for a maximum period of six months. The term of the state’s gram panchayats ends yesterday.

11. Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) prices in Delhi have increased by 2 rupees per kilogram. With the latest revision effective from 6 am today, CNG in Delhi now costs 83 rupees and 9 paise per kilogram.

12. In Punjab, polling for municipal elections yesterday. Voting for 8 Municipal Corporations, 75 Municipal Councils and 20 Nagar Panchayats took place.

13. Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Dr Virendra Kumar launched the PM-AJAY Portal and AJAY Mobile App to digitize and strengthen the implementation of Scheduled Caste welfare schemes in New Delhi.

16. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert predicting heatwave to severe heatwave conditions over Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Vidarbha.

Monsoon has officially set in over Mizoram yesterday, according to the India Meteorological Department, New Delhi. Officials have urged people across the state to remain alert as the rainy season begins.

In Tamilnadu, another blow to the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), former Minister and Ambasamudram MLA Esakki Subaya on Tuesday (May 26, 2026) met Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Speaker J.C.D. Prabhakar at the Secretariat and resigned from his MLA post. Later in the evening, he joined the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).

2. Former BJD Rajya Sabha MP Debashish Samantaray has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He was inducted into the party in the presence of senior party leaders, including BJP General Secretary Arun Singh.

3. A special court has remanded 15 more individuals to National Investigation Agency (NIA) custody till 5th June in connection with the attack on judicial officers in Mothabari, Malda.

4. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) today carried out search operations at five locations across Chennai and Madurai in connection with a major drug smuggling syndicate with international links.

5. The Indian Youth Congress launched the ‘Indian Youth Cockroaches’ campaign, turning a viral political meme into a nationwide protest movement.
The campaign seeks to reclaim the term ‘cockroaches’, which the organisation said was used to mock protesting youth raising issues like unemployment and corruption.

6. V. Srinidhi, the national youth wing secretary of the Indian National Congress who contested from the Singanallur constituency in the recently concluded Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, has resigned from the primary membership of the party.

7. Kerala launched Project Zero on 26 May 2026 as an anti-corruption initiative for state administration. The programme covers bribery, cyber crimes, vigilance procedures, and complaint handling through the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau.

In Uttar Pradesh, at least ten people were killed in two separate road accidents on the Agra-Lucknow and Purvanchal expressways yesterday.

In the first incident, six people lost their lives and more than ten others were injured after a bus overturned on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway near Unnao district.

In another accident in the early hours today, four people were killed on the Purvanchal Expressway near Barabanki district.

1. Bollywood star Salman Khan is currently busy shooting for his upcoming war drama Maatrubhumi. Choreographer Mudassar Khan recently opened up about working with the superstar on a grand song sequence for the film and praised Salman’s energy, dedication, and larger-than-life screen presence during the shoot.

According to reports, Salman has undergone a major physical transformation for Maatrubhumi. The actor reportedly trained in extreme high-altitude conditions in Ladakh, combining endurance exercises with intense weight-training sessions.

2. Actor Ram Charan has completed dubbing for Peddi (Telugu) as the film gears up for its worldwide release on June 4. The makers confirmed that major post-production work has now been wrapped up, with USA prints expected to be dispatched soon. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, the film has already created strong buzz through its promotions and songs.
