1. The Lok Sabha on Tuesday (March 24, 2026) passed by voice vote the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Amendment Bill, 2026, which proposes to remove transgender people’s right to self-determination of gender, and introduces a clause for examination by a medical board to determine their gender.

2. The Government introduced the Corporate Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026 in the Lok Sabha, following which the House adopted a motion to send the proposed legislation to a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) for detailed examination.

3. The Government has assured that there is a sufficient stock of petrol and diesel in the country and domestic production of LPG has been stepped up and all refineries are operating at the highest capacity.

4. PM Modi has called for dialogue and diplomacy to restore peace in the West Asia region. Speaking in the Rajya Sabha yesterday over the ongoing conflict in West Asia, PM Modi said, India has raised the issue of de-escalation and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

5. Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced five reforms as part of Indian Railways resolve to undertake 52 reforms in 52 weeks this year in New Delhi.

6. The scrutiny of nomination papers for Assam, Keralam and Puducherry assembly elections was held yesterday. The filing of nomination papers ended on Monday. The last day for withdrawal of candidature is Thursday.

7. Karmayogi Bharat CEO Chhavi Bhardwaj said that the Department of Personnel and Training, Capacity Building Commission, and Karmayogi Bharat will collectively organise a week-long Sadhna Saptah from the 2nd of next month in New Delhi.

9. The Gujarat Assembly passed the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) Bill with a majority voice vote after a marathon debate lasting over seven hours yesterday. The bill proposes a common legal framework to govern marriage, divorce, succession, and live-in relationships, irrespective of religion.

10. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today launched ‘Nivesh Mitra 3.0’, a digital platform which has been specifically designed to simplify and enhance the investor experience.

11. Mizoram recorded 1,845 live births and 720 deaths in January this year, according to data released by the Economics and Statistics department.

12. The Government has approved the Kosamba Rail Over-Rail (RoR) Flyover Project in Gujarat and the Bhagalpur Bypass Project in Bihar to strengthen rail connectivity and improve operational efficiency. The Ministry of Railways stated that the total sanctioned cost of the two projects is around six hundred forty-seven crore rupees.

13. Telangana Government employees will get up to 20% discount on purchase of two- and four-wheeler electric vehicles (EVs) from some companies. Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar announced on Tuesday (March 24, 2026) that this was facilitated after multiple rounds of negotiations with leading EV manufacturers including Mahindra Electric, Ola Electric, Gravton Motors, and Ather Energy.

1. The Apex Court has ruled that only individuals belonging to Hindu, Sikh, or Buddhist faiths are eligible to claim Scheduled Caste status. The Court clarified that conversion to any other religion, such as Christianity, results in the immediate and complete loss of Scheduled Caste status.

2. The Supreme Court adjourned ‘die’ (without giving a date) the plea by Save Nimisha Priya International Action Council seeking directions to secure the release of Malayali nurse Nimisha Priya, who is on the death row in Yemen.

3. The Supreme Court expressed reluctance to set timelines for the Centre to decide applications seeking Indian citizenship as per the Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019, saying that it was a matter for executive decision, where “minimised judicial intervention” was desirable.

4. A Delhi court today sentenced Kashmiri separatist Asiya Andrabi to life imprisonment following her conviction in an Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) case.

5. In West Bengal, to ensure free, fair, and peaceful upcoming Assembly Elections, approximately 1,920 companies of comprising CAPF, armed forces of other states and Indian Reserve Battalions will be deployed in phases. Out of this total, 300 companies of CAPF are scheduled to arrive by March 31.

Harish Rana, the first individual in India to receive legal approval for passive euthanasia, passed away yesterday at 4:10 PM at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi. The 31-year-old had been in a coma for more than a decade after suffering severe head injuries in a fall from a fourth-floor balcony while he was a BTech student at Panjab University.

7. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has said that a Special Investigation Team is conducting a comprehensive probe into the case involving self-styled godman Ashok Kharat, following serious allegations of sexual exploitation and fraud.

2. The Supreme Court ruled that women Short Service Commission (SSC) officers in the Army, Navy, and Air Force who were denied Permanent Commission due to arbitrary evaluation processes will now be entitled to full pension benefits.

1. Malayalam actor Mohanlal on Tuesday (March 24) withdrew from Delhi High Court his application for interim injunction against content allegedly infringing his personality rights.

2. Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh submitted before the Karnataka High Court on Tuesday (March 24) that he shall file an affidavit before the court tendering an apology with regard to his mimicry of a character in ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ movie.

The court was hearing the actor’s plea to quash an FIR registered against him over his mimicry of a character in ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ movie during the 56th IFFI Festival of India organised by the Government of Goa last year.
