1. PM Modi will distribute more than 51 thousand appointment letters to newly appointed youth in various Government departments and organisations at the 19th Rozgar Mela through video conferencing today.

2. The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission has achieved a major milestone with over 100 crore health records successfully linked with Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts (ABHA). The Health Ministry said that the number of linked health records has doubled from 50 crore in February last year to over 100 crore in just 15 months.

3. The Election Commission announces biennial elections for 24 Rajya Sabha seats from ten States on 18th of next month.

7. The Department of Space approved Common Technical Facilities in Gujarat and Tamil Nadu on 22 May 2026. The facilities are linked to India’s private-sector space manufacturing ecosystem and are being developed with the involvement of the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre.

8. Union government has planned a High-Powered Demography Mission to address illegal immigration, infiltration, and demographic change in border areas. The mission was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the Independence Day address in 2025.

9. Karnataka plans to establish 1,000 Karnataka Public Schools from 1 June 2026, with the project launch scheduled in Shivamogga. The schools are planned under the School Education Department and the Minorities Department, and the model includes classes from Lower Kindergarten to II Pre-University Course in Kannada and English mediums.

10. India’s rooftop solar capacity reached 20.8 GW in 2025 after 7.1 GW of new installations, which marked a 123% year-on-year increase. The residential sector accounted for 76% of annual rooftop solar installations in 2025, and the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana remained the main policy support for the segment.

11. Union Minister Virendra Kumar launched the JEEVAN app and SHATAYU dashboard on May 22 to strengthen India’s eldercare ecosystem. The initiative focuses on senior citizen support, geriatric caregiving, technology-driven care services and building a stronger care economy.

12. Maharashtra has emerged as the leading state with 215 central government projects worth around ₹5.5 trillion. The state’s strong industrial ecosystem, financial importance, port connectivity, and urban infrastructure make it a major destination for government investment.

13. India has launched the ₹167 crore Arunachal Kiwi Mission to transform Arunachal Pradesh into a premium global organic kiwi hub. The initiative focuses on cold storage, branding, exports, agri-tourism, farmer incomes, and building a strong farm-to-market value chain.

14. India has notified new fuel standards for petrol blended with up to 30% ethanol, marking a major step in its clean energy transition. The move supports reduced crude oil imports, stronger biofuel growth, and the next phase of the country’s ethanol blending programme beyond E20.

15. Delhi Forest Department plans to launch ‘Vaman Van’, a unique interactive biodiversity space featuring dwarf and miniature plants to promote environmental awareness, ecological education, and nature conservation among children, students, and visitors.

16. Delhi government plans to raise ration card income eligibility from ₹1.2 lakh to ₹2.5 lakh annually while cancelling 7.72 lakh cards in a major public distribution system cleanup. The move could expand access for eligible families while tightening verification.

17. Polling for 24 Rajya Sabha seats across 10 States which will fall vacant following the retirement of incumbents – including Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and former Prime Minister H. D. Deve Gowda – would take place on June 18, the Election Commission of India (ECI) announced.

18. India recorded 97 of the world’s 100 hottest cities on 22 May 2026 during a heatwave across northern, central and eastern India. Balangir in Odisha touched 48°C, while Sasaram in Bihar also reached 48°C and Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh recorded 47°C.

19. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued red colour warning for heat wave to severe heat wave conditions over East Madhya Pradesh, East Uttar Pradesh and Vidarbha today. IMD has also issued orange colour warning for heat wave conditions over Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Odisha. Similar conditions will prevail over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, West Madhya Pradesh and West Uttar Pradesh for the day.

20. Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announced a major decision on revising minimum wages for workers in Telangana dividing the workers into four categories and into three zones in the State.

The state has been divided into three zones for determining minimum wages. Zone-1 includes Municipal Corporations, Zone-2 covers Municipalities, while Zone-3 consists of rural areas.

1. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) yesterday arrested another key accused connected with the leak of Physics questions in the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case. The accused named Manisha Sanjay Havaldar is presently working at Seth Hiralal Saraf Prashala in Pune, Maharashtra.

2. The Supreme Court to hear plea against CBSE’s three-language study compulsory for Class 9 students from July 1.

3. A Delhi court yesterday deferred its decision till 9th June on framing charges against Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, his family members and others in the alleged money laundering case linked to the IRCTC hotel scam. The case is being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate.

Two Indian mountaineers, Arun Kumar Tiwari and Sandeep Are, died while descending from Mount Everest. Officials at Nepal’s Department of Tourism said, these climbers were descending after conquering the peak of the world’s tallest mountain.

1. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the Indian War Memorial in South Korea, honouring Indian troops who served in the Korean War (1950-53) and specially those who carried out the humanitarian and peacekeeping duties. The event marks a new chapter in India-South Korea defence ties, veterans’ cooperation, and shared military history.

2. Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) has floated parallel tenders for ASTRA MK-1 rocket motor components, a move designed to accelerate production for Su‑30MKI and TEJAS MK-1A fighter jets.This step strengthens India’s self‑reliant defence ecosystem under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

3. India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is intensifying its focus on unmanned warfare as drones, loitering munitions and autonomous strike systems increasingly dominate modern battlefields.

4. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said the government will launch the Smart Border Project to make the entire border even more impregnable. Addressing the investiture ceremony of BSF in New Delhi yesterday, Home Minister Shah said, the project will be equipped with drones, radars, cameras, and other technical resources.

5. India’s Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi met Dinesh Trivedi, the High Commissioner-designate to Bangladesh, to discuss strengthening defence cooperation, enhancing military-to-military engagement, and improving border security.

Around 45 ships are under construction within the country and will be delivered in the next 3 to 4 years, Navy vice chief Vice Admiral Sanjay Vatsyan has said in Kolkata during the launch of ‘Sanghamitra’, the first of four next-generation offshore patrol vessels (NGOPVs) built by defence PSU Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) Ltd for the Navy.

An Indian armed forces delegation, led by Lieutenant General Pushpendra Pal Singh, General Officer Commanding-In-Chief of Western Command and the seniormost serving special forces officer of the Indian armed forces, participated in Special Operations Forces (SOF) Week held at Tampa in Florida, US, from May 18 to 21.
