1. PM Modi chaired a high-level meeting to review the situation in the petroleum, crude oil, gas, power, and fertiliser sectors amid the evolving West Asia situation. The meeting held in New Delhi focused on ensuring uninterrupted supply, stable logistics, and efficient distribution across the country.

2. The government has reassured that there is no shortage of essential fuels across the country, with oil refineries operating at high capacity and adequate stocks of petrol and diesel available. No shortages have been reported at retail outlets.

3. The filing of nomination papers for assembly elections in Assam, Keralam and Puducherry will end today. Polling in the two states and the Union Territory will be held in a single phase on 9th of next month.

4. Tamil Nadu, voting will take place in a single phase on 23rd of April. In West Bengal, voting will be conducted in two phases on 23rd and 29th of April. The notification for Tamil Nadu and for the first phase of Assembly polls in West Bengal will be issued on 30th of this month. Notification for the second phase of polling in West Bengal will be issued on 2nd of April. Counting of votes for all four states and the Union Territory will be held on the 4th of May.

5. BJP President Nitin Nabin has congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on becoming the longest-serving head of an elected government in the country. In a social media post, Mr. Nabin said Prime Minister Modi’s 8 thousand 931 days in public life are not just a political journey but a testament to his service to the nation.

6. Bihar state celebrated its 114th Foundation Day yesterday. On this day in 1912, Bihar was carved out of Bengal and granted the status of a separate state. The theme of this day is “Unnat Bihar, Ujjwal Bihar” (Progressive Bihar, Bright Bihar).

7. Union Minister of Jal Shakti C. R. Patil said, tap water connections have reached over 15 crore rural households, leading to improved health, enhanced living standards, and greater dignity for women. The Minister was virtually addressing participants from five states during the Sujal Gram Samvad, organised as part of the concluding event of Jal Mahotsav 2026.

8. Former Janata Dal-United (JD-U) leader K.C. Tyagi, yesterday formally joined the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) in the presence of party chief and Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary in New Delhi.

9. New data shared in Parliament this week reveal high level of contamination in drinking water samples in Haryana and Punjab over the past five years. Records from the Ministry of Jal Shakti show that Haryana tested 3,35,334 water samples during this period, of which 20,334 were found bacteriologically contaminated and 5,691 chemically contaminated.

10. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and Uttarakhand during the next two days.

1. Indian Navy is set to commission INS Taragiri (F41), a stealth frigate under Project 17A, on April 3, 2026. The induction of this advanced warship marks a significant step in strengthening India’s maritime capabilities and enhancing naval preparedness in the Indian Ocean region.

2. The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has entered a pivotal testing phase for Project Kusha, India’s ambitious long-range surface-to-air missile (LR-SAM) program.

3. India’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Anil Chauhan, has stirred debate by revealing the Indian Air Force’s interest in sixth-generation fighter programs.Speaking to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence, he outlined potential alignments with global initiatives like the UK-Italy-Japan Global Combat Air Program or the Franco-German Future Combat Air System.

4. The Indian Air Force (IAF) has issued an Expression of Interest (EoI) for the development and indigenous production of 18 lines of Tools, Testers, and Ground Equipment (TTGEs) tailored specifically for its Rafale fighter fleet.
