1. International Yoga Day 2026 (IDY 2026) will be celebrated tomorrow to mark the 12th International Day of Yoga with the theme Yoga for Healthy Ageing, which highlights the importance of adopting Yoga as a lifelong practice for healthy, active and dignified ageing. The main event of International Day of Yoga 2026 will be held at the historic Red Road in Kolkata in West Bengal where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead the nation in the practice of the Common Yoga Protocol. 2. President Smt Droupadi Murmu lauded PM Modi’s leadership, stating that he has significantly enhanced India’s prestige and influence on the global stage through his visionary governance and constructive engagement with world leaders. Addressing a large public gathering at Rairangpur in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district organised to mark the completion of two years of the Mohan Charan Majhi Government.

3. The National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG 2026 re-examination is scheduled for today. The re-examination will be held across 551 cities in India and 14 cities abroad for over 22.79 lakh candidates.

4. President Smt. Droupadi Murmu will be the chief guest at the state-level International Yoga Day programme in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh today. The event will begin at 7:30 am at Garrison Ground in Sadar.

5. Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah inaugurated Shri Ambabai Temple Development Project in Kolhapur worth over 1,445-crore-rupee. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.

6. Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said that under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme, a total of ₹977.89 crore has been transferred directly to the bank accounts of 285,571 farmers in the state up to the 22nd instalment.

7. In Manipur, Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla presented the 7th Governor’s Art Award to noted artist Yendrembam Ibochouba Singh in recognition of his contribution to the field of fine arts. The award was conferred at a solemn function held at the Cabinet Hall of the Chief Minister’s Office in Mantripukhri, Imphal East.

8. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurated the Jowai-Nartiang-Kdiap-Khanduli road project, spanning 59.955 kilometres in Meghalaya. The project, funded by the New Development Bank at a cost of about Rs. 59.48 crore, was inaugurated at the Wahiajer Multi Sports Complex Stadium in West Jaintia Hills district.

9. In Keralam, Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas and Tourism, Suresh Gopi, inaugurated the PM-Kisan Utsav Diwas event organized by the ICAR-CTCRI in Thiruvananthapuram.

10. A mega district-level programme marking the release of the 23rd instalment under the PM-KISAN scheme was organised at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kargil, in collaboration with the Agriculture Department.

11. BJP National President Nitin Nabin yesterday began his three-day visit to Punjab. This is his first visit to the border state after taking charge as the party president.

12. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu released 3,125 crore rupees as the first instalment of financial assistance under the PM-Kisan-Annadata Sukhibhava scheme for the 2026 Kharif season. The assistance, at the rate of seven thousand rupees per farmer, was credited to the accounts of 46.85 lakh farmers across Andhra Pradesh.

13. The first phase of Census 2027 in Uttar Pradesh, covering the House Listing and Housing Census, has been completed with 100 per cent success within the scheduled period from May 22 to June 20 this year.

14. Prime Minister released the 23rd instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme on 20 June 2026. An amount of ₹18,880 crore will be transferred directly into the bank accounts of more than 9.44 crore farmers across India.

15. Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of India’s first commercial-scale coal-to-ammonium nitrate project at Lakhanpur in Odisha’s Jharsuguda district. The ₹25,016-crore project will be developed by Bharat Coal Gasification and Chemicals Limited, a joint venture between Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited and Coal India Limited.

16. NHAI has launched Rajasthan’s first Multi-Lane Free Flow tolling system at Daulatpura on NH-48, enabling barrier-free travel, faster toll collection, and reduced congestion.

17. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red color warning for extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places over Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. IMD has also predicted heavy rainfall conditions over Kerala, Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal and North Eastern parts of the country during the day.

1. The Supreme Court of India delivered a landmark judgment declaring that the right to walk on safe and demarcated footpaths is a fundamental right under the Constitution.

2. The government banned the manufacture, sale and distribution of 16 fixed-dose combination (FDC) drugs for human use with immediate effect.

3. In Manipur, ten persons wanted in multiple high-profile cases have been arrested by a combined team of the National Investigation Agency, Manipur Police and the CRPF. The arrests were made during coordinated raids carried out across several districts, including Imphal, Churachandpur and Ukhrul.

4. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will challenge the acquittal of former Maharashtra Home Minister Padamsinh Patil and seven others in the 2006 murder case of Congress leader Pawanraje Nimbalkar and his driver.

Delivering the verdict, Special CBI Court Judge Satyanarayan Navandar observed that the prosecution had failed to establish the chain of conspiracy beyond reasonable doubt.

At least five devotees lost their lives and nearly 40 others were injured after a portion of a temple structure collapsed in Manwat taluka of Maharashtra’s Parbhani district. The incident occurred when a large number of devotees had gathered at the temple for darshan. Rescue teams rushed to the spot and launched relief operations immediately.

1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will commission three indigenously built Indian Navy platforms – INS Dunagiri, INS Sanshodhak and INS Agray in Kolkata today.

2. Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh has underscored the need for technological agility, strategic foresight & institutional innovation to maintain a robust preparedness amidst the uncertainties of present-day world order. Interacting with soldiers at the Eastern Air Command HQs in Shillong, Meghalaya on June 20, 2026, Raksha Mantri asserted that hybrid threats, cyber challenges, information warfare, logistics resilience, supply chain security, and drones are emerging as critical elements in the constantly-evolving nature of warfare.

3. Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, Army Commander Northern Command, visited the forward areas of Kilo Force and Baltal to review the prevailing security situation and assess the operational preparedness of troops deployed for Operation SHIVA 2026, the Indian Army’s annual security mission for the Shri Amarnath Yatra.

4. A total of 1,522 Agniveers were formally attested at the Mechanised Infantry Centre & School (MIC&S), Ahilyanagar, on 20 June 2026 following the successful completion of 24 weeks of rigorous military training.

5. India is set to acquire nine retired SEPECAT Jaguar fighter aircraft from the United Kingdom in 2026. The aircraft will be used for cannibalisation, a practice in which retired airframes are dismantled to obtain spare parts and sub-assemblies for an existing fleet.

6. The Indian Coast Guard has inducted its first indigenous hovercraft, H-561, boosting coastal surveillance, rapid response, search and rescue operations, and maritime security.

This newly inducted Air Cushion Vehicle (ACV), designated as the H-561 it represents the major milestone under the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative and it highlights the country’s growing capability to develop the advanced maritime platforms domestically.
