1. Chief Ministers of Six States signed the Kishau Multipurpose Dam Project agreement for the rejuvenation of the Yamuna River. These States are Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan and Delhi. The agreement was signed in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi.

2. Vice President Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan praises successful BRICS summit in New Delhi.

3. Seva Sankalp Abhiyan 2026 is a nation-wide campaign on public service and outreach which is to be held during the period of 17 September to 17 October 2026. 7. Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is likely to announce key measures in the Assembly on Wednesday to provide relief to property owners whose land was included in the Section 22A prohibited list. He is also likely to order a probe into the alleged illegal transfer of Section 22A and other government land to private individuals during the previous BRS regime through the erstwhile Dharani portal.

8. Andhrapradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials to complete 5.52 lakh houses by March 2027 under the state government’s Housing for All programme, which aims to provide every eligible family with a permanent house by 2029.

9. The Central Government was considering calling a special three-day session of Parliament toward the end of the month to discuss and potentially pass the proposed Delimitation Bills.
What is “delimitation”?
Delimitation means redrawing the boundaries of electoral constituencies and adjusting the number of seats in the Lok Sabha and State Assemblies based on the legal framework Parliament adopts.

10. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall over Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, Sub Himalayan West Bengal, Kerala and Mahe tomorrow. Heavy rainfall accompanied with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds is likely to prevail over Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal during the next two days.

1. The Supreme Court asked the Centre to consider extending the tenure of retiring presiding officers and members of quasi-judicial for a month or so till fresh appointments are made.

On 8th of this month, the Centre informed the bench that 248 members of different tribunals have been found eligible for extension under the Tribunal Reforms Act, 2026 and their services were being extended.

2. The government has announced that banks cannot impose any charges on Unified Payments Interface (UPI) transactions of up to 2,000 rupees.

According to a government gazette notification no charges can be imposed on such 2,000 rupees payments made through RuPay-powered debit cards either.

3. Amidst escalating ethnic tensions in Manipur, suspected militants have tragically killed two Kuki women and torched farmhouses, prompting a major Kuki organisation to demand justice and question government inaction.

Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra: An LPG leak caused an explosion at a snacks shop in Sanpada. Two men suffered serious burn injuries. The blast also shattered the glass façade of a nearby hospital; no hospital patients or staff were injured.

The Finance Ministry clarified that there will be no charges at all for person-to-person (P2P) UPI transactions, irrespective of the amount transferred. The Ministry said that payments to merchants up to two thousand rupees along with transactions covered under the zero Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) framework for small merchants, will also remain free.

The standard MDR announced for qualifying merchant transactions above ₹2,000 is 0.4%, with special rules for certain sectors.
