1. India and Canada have begun the fourth round of negotiations for the proposed Comprehensive Economic Agreement (CEPA) in New Delhi, as both sides seek to boost bilateral trade to 50 billion US dollars by 2030. The five-day talks will continue until September 18.
2. US-based analyst Michael Kugelman has described India’s hosting of the 18th BRICS Summit as a success, saying the substantive New Delhi Declaration reflects New Delhi’s ability to build consensus among countries with differing views.
3. The Government has approved the export of power for 18 hours a day to the Nepal Electricity Authority till the 31st of December this year. The Ministry of Power said the approval has been given for to six hundred megawatts of export through the Muzaffarpur-Dhalkebar line and to 54 megawatts through the Tanakpur- Mahendranagar line.
4. The Ministry of External Affairs has said, several issues were discussed during the meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Summit held in New Delhi recently.
5. Wadda Gurdwara Sahib Reopens After Restoration
Wadda Gurdwara Sahib in Penang, Malaysia, reopened in September 2026 after extensive conservation and restoration work. The 125-year-old Sikh gurdwara was established in 1901 and is recognised as the oldest and largest Sikh temple in Southeast Asia. It is listed as a Category One heritage building.

2. US President Donald Trump has said Russia and Ukraine have agreed to stop attacking each other’s energy targets, without giving a start date, duration or enforcement details.
3. A US federal judge has temporarily blocked a new Trump administration rule imposing stricter limits on the duration of stay for foreign students and journalists in the United States.
4. In Bangladesh, the Election Commission (EC) has decided to hold Union Parishad (UP) elections across the country in seven phases, with the first phase likely to be held on November 12.
5. In Bangladesh, the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-2 yesterday convicted and sentenced seven people, including Awami League (AL) General Secretary and former minister Obaidul Quader, to death in a case of crimes against humanity over killings during the July uprising in Dhaka.
6. The Human Rights Council of Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir has expressed concern over prolonged protests and unrest in the region, particularly in Rawalakot and the districts of Poonch and Sudhnooti.
7. Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi will travel to China on 16 September for talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
