1. India will host the 5th BIMSTEC National Security Advisers’ Meeting in New Delhi on 16 July 2026. BIMSTEC is the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation, a regional grouping of seven member states in South and South-East Asia.

2. Department of Health Research under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare unveiled the Draft National Health Research Policy 2026 on 13-15 July 2026. The draft is India’s first comprehensive national framework for health research across biomedical science, clinical medicine, public health, epidemiology, digital health, and artificial intelligence.

3. Indian Railways announced eight structural freight reforms under the “Reform Express” initiative on 14 July 2026. The reforms raised the total number of implemented measures to 17 out of a target of 52 reforms in 52 weeks.

Freight transport in Indian Railways covers the movement of goods by rail wagons, containers, and specialised rolling stock.

4. India announced the “Seafarer-First” emergency maritime safety plan on 15 July 2026 in New Delhi after attacks on the merchant vessels MT Al Bahiyah and MT Mombasa in the Strait of Hormuz. The plan covers Indian seafarers operating in the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz, and the Gulf of Oman, and it includes operational tracking, family liaison, and emergency coordination measures.

5. The Delhi Cabinet approved the Delhi (Right of Citizen to Time Bound and Ease of Delivery of Services) Bill, 2026. The Bill seeks to make time-bound delivery of public services a legal entitlement in Delhi and to replace the Delhi Right of Citizens to Time-Bound Delivery of Services Act, 2011.

6. Indian scientists developed a portable, self-powered and wearable ammonia sensing device on 14 July 2026. The device was developed at the Centre for Nano and Soft Matter Sciences (CeNS), Bengaluru, an autonomous institute under the Department of Science and Technology (DST), and it detects ammonia at concentrations as low as 319 parts per billion (ppb).

7. Madhya Pradesh’s first international flight service began from Indore yesterday. The Air India Express flight will operate four days a week- Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. The new service will benefit passengers from Indore and the Malwa-Nimar region.

8. Honourable Chief Minister of Karnataka D.K. Shivakumar unveiled that, Karnataka will establish the country’s first government-driven Artificial Intelligence (AI) University, he announced the ambitious initiative during Google I/O Connect India 2026 in Bengaluru. Along with the AI University, state of Karnataka also established an AI hub to promote research, innovation, startup incubation, and industry collaboration.

9. The 31st Divya Kala Mela was inaugurated on 14 July 2026 at Ravindra Sadan in Kolkata. Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Virendra Kumar inaugurated the eight-day event, which will continue till 22 July 2026.

10. The renowned Tamil poet, lyricist, and writer R. Vairamuthu has been awarded with Jnanpith award in the year 2025, it is the prestigious award of Indian literature. This award was conferred at a function in New Delhi. Now, he is the third Tamil from Tamil Nadu to have received this prestigious award after a gap of 24 years.

11. The Union Cabinet approved the Semicon 2.0 with a budgetary outlay of 1 lakh 27 thousand 500 crore rupees to strengthen India’s semiconductor design and manufacturing ecosystem. Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced about the Cabinet decisions.

12. Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan called for Corporate Social Responsibility Support to Strengthen Agriculture Through Startups, Skill Development and Agri-Tech. The Minister said this while addressing the ICAR Technology Portfolio for Corporate Social Responsibility Conclave 2026 in New Delhi.

13. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Haryana, Chandigarh and Punjab on Friday. The Prime Minister will flag off India’s first Hydrogen train between Jind and Sonipat at Jind railway station in Haryana. He will launch various development projects worth around 14 thousand 700 crore rupees at Eklavya Stadium in Jind.

14. The Election Commission extended the schedule for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision SIR of electoral rolls in Punjab, Karnataka, Telangana and Delhi. In Delhi, draft electoral rolls will now be published on 17th August instead of 5th. House-to-house visits which were scheduled till 29th July will now continue till 8th August. The final electoral rolls will be published on October 19th.

15. The Gujarat Government announced a rehabilitation financial package to revive flood-affected business, commercial, and service units in Surat city and district.

16. The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) has introduced the India’s first trial version of the monthly Index of Services Production (ISP). The index has been launched with base year 2024-25 and provides the initial monthly short-term measure of activities undertaken in the formal services industry in India.

1. The Uttar Pradesh government has taken action against 16 hospitals in Bijnor district for negligence in Ayushman Bharat scheme. On the directions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the State Agency for Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme (SACHiS) conducted surprise inspections at 20 hospitals in Bijnor.

2. A public interest litigation (PIL) has reportedly been filed in the Delhi High Court seeking urgent medical intervention for climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, who has been on an indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar in support of the Cockroach Janta Party’s (CJP) protest over alleged NEET examination irregularities.

1. In a significant development, Russia has offered India the possibility of using its advanced aircraft engine technologies to support the development of the fifth-generation Advanced Medium Combat Aircraf. The proposal centres on transferring engineering expertise and design solutions derived from the AL-51F1 engine, also known as “Product 30,” which was created for the Su-57 stealth fighter.

2. India’s successful military field trials of an indigenous Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) system mark a decisive leap in secure defence communications, ensuring protection against future quantum-computer-based cyber threats and laying the foundation for large-scale quantum-secure networks.This achievement positions India among the select nations capable of deploying unbreakable encryption for military and strategic infrastructure.

Apollo Micro Systems has announced that it has secured defence orders worth ₹134 crore from the Defence Research and Development Organisation, the Indian Navy and various public sector undertakings.The company informed stock exchanges on Wednesday that these orders were awarded in the ordinary course of business and cover multiple defence and government projects.

4. Director General of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Praveer Ranjan, today reviewed the security arrangements for the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026 during a visit to Jammu. The DG inspected key facilities and chaired high-level security review meeting with CAPFs, J&K Police, Army and other agencies.

1. In the Brand Finance India 100 – 2026 report, MRF Ltd., the largest tyre manufacturer in India, was awarded the title of the Most Valuable and Strongest Tyre Brand in India. It also earned the distinction of being the third strongest tyre brand worldwide according to the Brand Finance Tyres 25 – 2026 rankings.

2. In the ongoing fiscal year, India’s tax revenues have performed significantly, with the net direct taxes reaching ₹6.51 trillion as of July 13, a year-on-year rise of 16.4%. It is evident from the latest figures released by the Income Tax Department that the increase in revenues came as a result of higher collections from companies as well as individual taxpayers, despite the government paying out significantly higher tax refunds.
