1. Suvendu Adhikari will take oath as the first BJP Chief Minister of West Bengal on Saturday (9 May 2026). The decision was taken at the BJP legislature meeting in Kolkata in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

2. A district-level training camp for the smooth conduct of the 2027 Census began yesterday at the conference hall of Udaipur Circuit House under Gomati district in Tripura. During the inaugural session of the three-day programme, national-level census trainer Shubhajit Debray provided training on various digital aspects related to the census process.

3. India’s largest airline, IndiGo, has announced that it will begin commercial flight services from Noida International Airport at jewar from June 15, 2026. With this, IndiGo is set to become the airport’s first launch carrier.

4. Maharashtra SSC 2026 results declared; overall pass percentage stands at 92.09%.

5. Maharashtra approved the Compressed Biogas (CBG) Policy, 2026, on 22 April 2026, and the policy was officially released on 5 May 2026. The Maharashtra Cabinet approved it under Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and the policy provides ₹500 crore for 2026-27.

6. Delhi has used processed legacy waste from the Bhalswa landfill to fill low-lying waterlogged areas in Roop Vihar and Sharma Colony in North-West Delhi. The work is linked to landfill remediation, land reclamation, and drainage management in the National Capital Territory of Delhi.

10. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has launched the JANANI (Journey of Antenatal, Natal and Neonatal Integrated Care) platform to strengthen maternal and child healthcare services in India. The digital system aims to improve monitoring of women’s health during reproductive stages.

11. Recently Vande Mataram marks 150 years since it was written by the Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay in 1875. The Union Cabinet led by PM Modi has proposed giving Vande Mataram legal protection equivalent to India’s National Anthem, Jana Gana Mana. This will be proposed by the amendments to the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act.

12. NCERT has launched PRASHAST 2.0, an upgraded tool to identify disabilities in school children at an early stage. PRASHAST 2.0 (Pre-Assessment Holistic Screening Tool) is the digital screening platform and which is developed by National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT). It allows the Teachers, principals and the special educators and it will screen children for 21 types of disabilities as it is defined under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.

14. Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) led by its Actor-turned politician C. Joseph Vijay is all set to form the Government, he gets support from Congress, VCK, IUML and Left Parties; To take oath as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister today.

15. Kailash Manasarovar Yatra will take place from June to August this year. Ten batches, each consisting of 50 Yatris, are scheduled to travel through Uttarakhand, crossing over at Lipulekh Pass. Another 10 batches, each consisting of 50 Yatris, will travel through Sikkim, crossing over at Nathu La Pass.

Located at Ashok Nagar in Khanapur Mandal, the temple was allegedly bulldozed to clear land for a government Integrated School.
