14. Heavy rainfall continued to batter several parts of Maharashtra, disrupting normal life across the state. Mumbai and its suburbs received intense showers, prompting the closure of schools in Mumbai, Thane and Palghar. Flood-like conditions were reported from parts of Palghar district, affecting road and rail traffic.

1. A Delhi Court rejected the bail pleas filed by Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam in Delhi riots conspiracy case. Additional Sessions Judge Sameer Bajpai of Karkardooma Court dismissed the bail pleas filed by both the accused persons.

2. The Union Home Ministry has designated 23 individuals based in Pakistan as terrorists under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act – UAPA.

They were linked to Jaish-e-Mohammad, Lashkar-e-Taiba and other organisations. The Ministry said the Government is committed to dismantling every terror module to safeguard the country and its citizens.

3. The Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) has arrested eight people associated with the Pakistan-based banned terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). They were arrested from various districts of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh in simultaneous operations yesterday.

1. India’s defence exports reach a record high of over 38 thousand crore rupees, says Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

2. In Jammu and Kashmir, the Army has launched a major counter-terrorist operation in the Shopian district after two terrorists belonging to the banned outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) were cornered in a dense orchard. According to officials, the operation was launched on Friday afternoon after the two terrorists were spotted in the orchard in the Meemandar area, which comprises seven villages.

3. Air Marshal Tejinder Singh took over as the Chief of Integrated Defence Staff to Chairman Chiefs of Staff Committee (CISC).

4. Russia has officially consented to support India’s extensive “Super Sukhoi” modernisation programme for its fleet of over 250 Su-30MKI fighter jets of Indian Air Force.

5. The Indian Navy has deployed a P-8I maritime patrol aircraft to Hawaii for the Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) exercise — the world’s largest naval exercise, hosted by the US Pacific Fleet. The 30th edition will include 30 nations, more than 30 surface ships, five submarines and over 200 aircraft, and will take place around Hawaii. Its theme is “Partners: Integrated and Prepared.” First held in 1971, RIMPAC seeks to improve interoperability among partner navies across the full spectrum of naval operations.
