1. Campaigning ends for second phase of Gujarat Assembly Elections; Polling on Monday for 93 seats in 14 districts.

2. President Droupadi Murmu will be on a two day visit to Andhra Pradesh from Sunday. She will attend a civic reception to be hosted in her honour by the Government of Andhra Pradesh at Vijayawada.

3. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has greeted people on the occasion of Geeta Jayanti. It is the 5159th Anniversary of the sacred book Gita. Gita Jayanti is the day when Lord Shri Krishna explained the Gita Gyan to Arjuna.

4. The 7th batch of Tamil delegation comprising 208 spiritual people from Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and adjoining places reached Varanasi to take part in the month long ‘Kashi Tamil Sangamam’ festival.

5. Madras High Court has rejected a petition by a man seeking caste based quota in government jobs, saying that a person can’t claim reservation after converting to another religion. The petitioner who belonged to the most backward community had converted to Islam in 2008. He failed to reach merit list after appearing for Tamil Nadu Combined Civil Services exam in 2018.

6. A book on the popular forest conservation campaign Chipko Movement, written by historian-activist Shekhar Pathak, was named the winner of the Kamaladevi Chattopadhyay NIF Book Prize 2022.

7. The Bharat Jodo Yatra of Congress party will reach J&K towards the end of January 2023 and will culminate with a public meeting, said state Congress President Vikar Rasool Wani.

8. BJP chief JP Nadda on Saturday called for a crucial party meeting on December 5 and 6 in Delhi to be attended by all office bearers of the party.

9. In Telangana, the TRS party expects the Election Commission to approve the party’s renaming as Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) after the results of the Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections are announced on December 8.

10. In Andhra Pradesh, to make the Vaikunta Dwara Darshan more accessible to common pilgrims, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) have dispensed with all other formats of special darshans and arjitha sevas from January 2 to 11.

11. Rajeeva Laxman Karandikar, a Professor Emeritus at Chennai Mathematical Institute (CMI), named as chairperson of the National Statistical Commission.

12. Historian and author Surendra Gopal passed away at a hospital in Patna on Saturday. He was 86 years old.

1. Directorate of Revenue Intelligence seizes cocaine worth Rs 18 crore from two foreign nationals at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai.

2. Mumbai police says the rumours about a curfew imposed in the city were false and appeals to people not to panic.

3. Police complaints were lodged in Assam on Saturday by Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) against All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) MP Badruddin Ajmal for his purported comments targeting women and the Hindu community.

The AIDUF chief, who is revered as a ‘maulana’, courted controversy by reportedly advising Hindus to marry young to produce more children like Muslims.

3. Two Big Cyberattacks Tell Us India Needs Something More Than Technology. Recent cyber attack at Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) were hijacked by ransomware and Terminal 2 of Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, saw a swift throwback to the era of manual airport operations, when its servers went out of commission for two hours and more.

India must shield itself with the finest, most efficient technologies and equipment to insulate itself from cyberattack. Password security is as much about complex sequences and special characters as human integrity and commitment to keeping others safe.

1. India’s bio-economy grew 8 times in last 8 years, from 10 billion dollars in 2014 to over 80 billion dollars in 2022.

2. The Institute of Cost Accountants of India said that Vijender Sharma has been elected as the new president and Rakesh Bhalla as vice-president for 2022-23.

The Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICAI-CMA) is a statutory body constituted under an act of the Parliament and is the regulator for the profession of Cost and Management Accountancy in India.

Actor Jaideep Ahlawat said in an interview that this is the last era of stardom. “I don’t think anyone could be another Shah Rukh Khan or Salman Khan,” he added. “Now you will be judged for every work. DEFENCE

1. Indian Navy has put on hold its plans to design and build a larger indigenous aircraft carrier (IAC), known as IAC-2, and is looking at the possibility of a repeat order of the recently commissioned INS Vikrant.

It means that while the Navy wants a third aircraft carrier, it is now looking at ordering another 42,800-ton displacement Vikrant-class ship unlike the earlier plans to build a larger carrier.

2. Navy is working towards becoming completely Atmanirbhar (self-reliant) by 2047 and has set milestones to get rid of dependence on foreign suppliers in critical areas of “move” and “fight” components for manufacturing engines and air platforms, as global insecurities mount.

3. India, US successfully conclude 18th edition of joint military exercise Yudh Abhyas.
