1. PM Modi has called for sensitising Urban Local Bodies to the challenges arising from urbanisation, including population growth and future water requirements, and suggested organising similar Chintan Shivirs for Urban Local Bodies. PM Modi yesterday chaired the valedictory session of the two-day National Departmental Summit on Water, organised by the Ministry of Jal Shakti.
2. Mizoram launched a statewide school cleanliness competition, the ‘Mizoram Green Schools League’, aimed at inculcating habits of hygiene and environmental responsibility among students. The competition, jointly organised by the Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation (UD&PA) and School Education departments under the Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0, will be held at the block, district and state levels.
3. Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav inaugurated a two-day international workshop in New Delhi on 2 September 2026. The workshop was held on the theme “Tiger Landscapes: Conservation, Bioeconomy and Ecotourism as Pillars for Livelihood and Income Generation” and continued till 3 September 2026.
4. India plans to build 100 new airports over the next 10 years under the regional connectivity framework known as UDAN. The expansion is linked to the Modified UDAN scheme, which has a central budgetary outlay of ₹28,840 crore for FY 2026–27 to FY 2035–36.
5. Gollalagudi Temple, also called Gollala Gudi, in Palampet village of Mulugu district, Telangana, was declared a monument of national importance through a gazette notification issued by the Union Ministry of Culture and Tourism on 1 September 2026. The declaration increased the number of Archaeological Survey of India protected monuments in Telangana to 10.
6. The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), New Delhi, launched a digital dialogue series named AyurVarta on 1 September 2026. AIIA is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Ayush, and the series was introduced ahead of the 11th Ayurveda Day, which falls on 23 September.
7. Lakkundi in Gadag district of Karnataka is the site of a six-month LiDAR survey and geospatial mapping project under a Memorandum of Understanding between the Department of Archaeology, Museums and Heritage, Karnataka, and the National Institute of Advanced Studies, Bengaluru. The project uses non-invasive digital tools to locate buried structures linked to the Kalyana-Chalukya era, which dates to the 10th to 12th centuries CE.
8. Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya Scindia, launched two important projects in Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh. He inaugurated the modern Head Post Office in Shivpuri. The post office has been upgraded under the Post Office Modernisation Scheme. People will get Speed Post, Savings Bank, Postal Life Insurance, Aadhaar, Parcel and financial services at one place.
9. Andhrapradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday dedicated the Polavaram Left Canal waters to the people of north Andhra region after performing special pujas at the Payakaraopeta cross regulator in Anakapalle district. 10. Jharkhand has witnessed an increase in cases of swine flu, H1N1 infection. A total of 36 cases has been reported across the state in the past 30 days, including 18 children and adolescents.

1. The Supreme Court said, it will take up the reconstitution of the Bar Council of India after the newly elected State Bar Councils complete the statutory process for constituting the BCI.
2. The Central Consumer Protection Authority, CCPA has imposed a 10 Lakh rupees Penalty on a private limited company for Online Listing and Sale of Explosive Substance without Mandatory Safeguards. According to the authority, Platform was found facilitating online listing of Ammonium Nitrate without licence verification, buyer eligibility checks and mandatory safety disclosures.
3. The Enforcement Directorate is conducting searches at 12 locations in different States in the case of the illegal betting platform Parimatch and others. Searches are being carried out at five locations in Maharashtra, four in Delhi- NCR, two in Rajasthan and at one location in Gujarat under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
4. Two Bangladeshi nationals illegally staying in the national capital were apprehended by Delhi Police. During verification of their identity, it was revealed that both the individuals had entered India last month without valid visas and were staying in India without valid authorisation.
5. Telangana State minister Konda Surekha’s exit from the Telangana Cabinet appears imminent, with the Congress high command reportedly closing in on a decision following her open criticism of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and some of his ministerial colleagues in Delhi on Wednesday.

As ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam legislators pitch Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay as their Prime Ministerial candidate, the Congress party on Wednesday dismissed it as a “fan mindset” insisting that their leader Rahul Gandhi remains their Prime Ministerial candidate for the 2029 Lok Sabha polls.

1. In Uttar Pradesh, Former Commander of Western Air Command, Retired Air Marshal Jeetendra Mishra is appointed as first CEO of Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Kshetra Trust in Ayodhya. The appointment was announced after the meeting of trust held at Maniram Das Chhawani in Ayodhya under the chairmanship of trust president Mahant Nritya Gopal Das. The CEO will be responsible for overseeing the administrative functioning of the Trust and handling key operational responsibilities related to the Shri Ram Temple complex.
2. Air Marshal KAA Sanjeeb, AVSM, VSM, assumed charge as Air Officer-in-Charge Maintenance (AOM) of the Indian Air Force on 1 September 2026. The appointment followed the superannuation of Air Marshal Sanjiv Ghuratia on 31 August 2026 after 39 years of service in the Indian Air Force.
3. Former Indian Air Force Group Captain and Vir Chakra awardee Abhinandan Varthaman has joined Goa-based regional airline FLY91 as a pilot.
Varthaman, who downed an enemy jet during an aerial combat with Pakistan in 2019 and was held captive in the country for three days, was awarded the Vir Chakra in 2021. (News Source: money control).
4. Lieutenant General Shrinjay Pratap Singh, AVSM, YSM, the incumbent Director General, Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) and Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (Intelligence), is set to take over as the next General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) of Army Training Command (ARTRAC).
5. Air Vice Marshal Shakti Sharma has become the first woman officer from the non-medical stream of the Indian Armed Forces to attain the rank of Air Vice Marshal (or equivalent). She also became the first woman officer from the Tri-Services to command a Sainik School, serving as Principal of Sainik School, Kapurthala.
6. A major security breach was reported at the 20 Madras Regiment’s weapons storage facility in Bolaram, Secunderabad Cantonment, Telangana.
Bolaram Police registered a case under Sections 331(4) and 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) following a complaint by the Adjutant of the 20 Madras Regiment.

2. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) said its special US dollar-Indian rupee (USD-INR) forex swap facility has received forex inflows of over 136 billion US dollars till August 31, 2026. Of the total inflows, Foreign Currency Non-Resident (Bank) [FCNR-B] deposits accounted for the overwhelming majority, amounting to 127.2 billion US dollars.
3. The Japan Credit Rating Agency (JCR) upgraded India’s foreign currency and local currency long-term issuer ratings to A- from BBB+ on 2 September 2026. JCR also assigned a Stable outlook and raised India’s country ceiling to A.
4. Suman Ray has been appointed as an executive director (ED) by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
