1. The filing of nominations for the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections will end today. The Elections will be held in 88 Lok Sabha seats in 12 States and Union Territories along with the remaining part of the Outer Manipur Lok Sabha constituency in this phase.

2. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and LDF candidate Annie Raja of the CPI submitted their nomination papers from the Wayanad Parliamentary constituency in Kerala .

3. Union Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya today chaired a meeting to review the preparedness for the management of heat-related illness in the summer season.

The Election Commission has directed Chief Secretaries and Director General of Police of all States and Union Territories to keep a strict vigil along interstate and international borders to plug the inflow of illicit liquor, cash, drugs, arms and freebies. The Commission has also directed them to ensure peaceful and inducement-free General Elections in 2024.

5. Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Apurva Chandra launched the myCGHS app for the iOS ecosystem of devices in New Delhi. The app is designed to enhance access to Electronic Health Records, information, and resources for Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) beneficiaries. The App was already available for the Android system.

6. The Election Commission is meeting with law enforcement agencies of States and Union Territories to review and assess the law and order situation and prevent illicit activities and seizures. The meeting will also review the steps related to strict vigil across inter-state and international borders.

11. In Rajasthan Seemajan Kalyan Samiti has been organising camps and helping Pakistani Hindus apply for citizenship on the CAA portal.

For the past one week, a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS)-affiliated group has been organising camps and issuing “eligibility certificates” to members of the Hindu community from Pakistan to help them apply for citizenship under the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 (CAA).

The India Meteorological Department has predicted rainfall and heatwave conditions across various states including Arunachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Odisha, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Punjab, and others for the next five days. Enhanced rainfall/thunderstorm activity likely to continue over Northeast India till 07th April, 2024.

1. The Government has said that media reports claiming significant hike in prices of medicines are false and misleading. The Union Health Ministry said, these reports further claim that more than 500 medicines will be affected by the increase in price.

2. The Mumbai police arrested nine pirates who were brought to India on Wednesday, days after the Navy caught them for hijacking an Iranian fishing vessel with 23 Pakistani crew members on board off the Somalia coast.

3. A special court in Mumbai on Wednesday observed that Bharatiya Janata Party MP Pragya Singh Thakur’s absence in the September 2008 Malegaon blast case trial was hampering the proceedings, and asked the National Investigation Agency to submit a report on her health.

4. Residents of a village in Kapu assembly segment of Udupi-Chikkamagaluru Lok Sabha constituency have decided to boycott the upcoming election, in protest against the poor civic amenities there.

5. The defence ministry on Wednesday trashed reports which claimed that the new Sainik Schools were allocated to institutions based on their political or ideological affiliations.
Online media platform ‘The Reporters’ Collective’ in a report claimed that the government handed over 62 per cent of the new Sainik Schools to people associated with Sangh Parivar, politicians from the BJP and its allies.

1. Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi inaugurated the Param Vir Chakra garden and Aikyam exhibition the Kanchi Mahaswami Vidya Mandir in Tambaram. The garden showcases the history and statues of the 21 Param Vir Chakra awardees, India’s highest military decoration for valor.

2. The Ministry of Defence (MoD) announced that India’s defence exports surged to a record Rs 21,083 crore in the fiscal year 2023-24, marking a remarkable growth of 32.5% from the previous year.

5. At least 13 Naxals were killed by security forces in a major operation ahead of the Lok Sabha elections in Chhattisgarh. Police said the gunfight took place in a remote forest in Bijapur district on Tuesday.
