1. India and the Netherlands held the 12th Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) on Thursday in Hague and agreed to further strengthen bilateral ties by focusing on new and emerging technologies like semiconductors and green hydrogen.

The Indian delegation was led by Secretary (West), Ministry of External Affairs, Pavan Kapoor. The Dutch delegation was led by Secretary General, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, Paul Huijts.

2. A seven-member delegation from India held a Joint Trade Committee (JTC) meeting with their Nigerian counterparts in Abuja and identified several areas of focus for enhancing bilateral trade and mutually beneficial investments. The two sides agreed for an early conclusion of the Local Currency Settlement System Agreement to further strengthen bilateral economic ties.

3. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Friday met ASEAN Senior Officials in the national capital and expressed confidence that the ASEAN-India comprehensive strategic partnership will grow from strength to strength.

4. US President Joe Biden on Thursday said the “Xenophobic” nature of India, China, Japan and Russia is responsible for their economic troubles and argued that America’s economy is growing because it welcomes immigrants to its soil.The President made the statement while campaigning for his re-election at Washington.

5. India has refuted reports of Indian companies taking over visa issuance at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The Indian High Commission in Colombo said in a statement that the companies being referred to in the report are not India-based and any reference to India is “unwarranted.

6. The Embassy of India in Muscat, Oman brought down the curtains on its landmark eight-month “Mandvi to Muscat” lecture series this week, concluding an insightful exploration of the Indian diaspora’s deep-rooted connections with Oman spanning centuries.

7. In Dubai, the 10th-anniversary edition of World Art Dubai, the region’s biggest contemporary art fair, opened on May 2nd with a strong Indian flavour, showcasing works by Indian artists and art organizations. Running until May 5th, the prestigious fair is hosting more than 400 renowned galleries and solo artists, representing 60+ countries.

8. Nepal on Friday announced the printing of a new Rs 100 currency note with a map that shows the controversial territories of Lipulekh, Limpiyadhura and Kalapani, already termed as “artificial enlargement” and “untenable” by India.

7. At least 30 people have been killed and several injured after dam collapsed in southern Brazil’s Rio Grande do Sul state. The dam was collapsed after days of heavy rain that caused massive flooding.
