1. External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio held wide-ranging discussions in New Delhi yesterday. Both leaders reaffirmed the strength of the India-US strategic partnership and outlined key areas of cooperation, including trade, energy, mobility and regional security.
2. National Security Advisor Ajit Doval met US Secretary of State and NSA Marco Rubio in New Delhi. The discussions focused on defence, security and strategic technology cooperation, including the TRUST initiative.

1. The annual five-day Haj pilgrimage commences yesterday amidst regional tension in West Asia, as more than 1.6 million Muslims from across the world, including India, begin their journey from the holy city of Mecca to assemble in tent-city of Mina in Saudi Arabia.
2. China’s Chang’e-7 lunar exploration mission is scheduled for launch in the second half of 2026. The mission will study the Moon’s south pole through environmental and resource surveys, with a focus on permanently shadowed regions and possible water ice deposits.
3. US President Donald Trump has said that he has told his representatives not to rush into any deal with Iran, as his administration played down hopes of an imminent breakthrough in the 3-month old war.
4. In Philippines, around 20 people are feared to still be trapped under the rubble of a nine-storey under construction building that collapsed early yesterday morning in a city near capital, Manila.
5. Bangladesh recorded 16 more deaths with measles-like symptoms in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of such deaths this year to 528.
6. A court in Bahrain has sentenced nine people to life imprisonment and two others to three years in jail for collaborating with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in what authorities described as hostile, and an act of terrorism against the country.
7. Vice-Chairman of the Lumbini Development Trust of Nepal, Dr. Lharkyal Lama, has been conferred with the prestigious religious title of “Mahasadhamma Jyotikadhaj” by the Government of Myanmar. The honour was presented by Myanmar’s Ambassador to Nepal, U Thant Sin.
8. The six-day 79th World Health Assembly concluded in Geneva Saturday, during which member states adopted multiple resolutions to advance multilateral cooperation in safeguarding human health.
