1. Typhoon Bavi churned through the East China Sea, bringing strong winds and heavy rain to Japan’s southern islands as Taiwan and eastern China braced for landfall. The typhoon, with maximum sustained winds of 144 kilometres per hour, was forecast to pass north of Taiwan before making landfall in China’s Zhejiang province.
2. Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has announced that legislative elections will be held in late November this year, the first such polls since 2006. President Abbas issued a presidential decree fixing Saturday, November 28, 2026, as the date for the elections across all Palestinian territories, including Jerusalem, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
