1. The two-day 5th BRICS Supreme Audit Institutions (SAI) Leaders’ Summit began in Bengaluru yesterday under the theme “Ease of Living with a Focus on Urban Mobility”. Organised by the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India as part of India’s BRICS Chairmanship 2026, the summit has brought together 42 delegates, including Heads of SAIs from BRICS countries.

2. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri yesterday met UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation Reem Al Hashimy in Abu Dhabi.

3. The President of Vietnam, To Lam, visited the National Stock Exchange in Mumbai during his day-long visit to the city. He participated in the traditional bell-ringing ceremony at the NSE and was welcomed by Managing Director and CEO Ashish Kumar Chauhan.

4. External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar held talks with his Surinamese counterpart Melvin Bouva in Paramaribo.

5. Soma Mandal, an Indian science teacher from GD Goenka Public School, Delhi, won the South Asia regional title of the Cambridge Dedicated Teacher Awards 2026 on 6 and 7 May 2026. The award is presented by the International Education group at Cambridge University Press & Assessment.

1. The World Health Organization (WHO) confirmed five hantavirus cases linked to a cruise ship outbreak, while three additional cases remain suspected.

2. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio met Pope Leo XIV at the Vatican and discussed the situation in West Asia, along with issues of mutual interest in the Western Hemisphere.

3. Israeli said that they struck an infrastructure used by the Iran-backed armed group Hezbollah for terrorist activities in the Nabatieh area of Lebanon.

4. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said he is ready for all scenarios in dealing with Iran and emphasised that the United States and Israel share the same goal of the removal of enriched material from Iran.

5. Bangladesh’s worsening measles outbreak claimed seven more children’s lives in the last 24 hours, while a renewed shortage of diagnostic kits has severely disrupted testing across the country.

6. The US military says it has intercepted and disabled an Iranian-flagged oil tanker in the Gulf of Oman after it allegedly attempted to breach a US-enforced maritime blockade and head toward an Iranian port.

7. Boko Haram militants killed 23 security personnel in an attack on a military base in Central African country of Chad. Many other Chadian soldiers were injured in the attack, which was eventually repelled.
