1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday (July 6, 2026) arrived in Indonesia on the first leg of his three-nation tour, (Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand) aimed at further strengthening India’s Act East Policy, MAHASAGAR Vision and its commitment to a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific.

2. India is participating in the inaugural United Nations Global Dialogue on AI Governance in Geneva, Switzerland, on 6-7 July 2026. The Indian delegation is led by Minister of State for External Affairs and Environment, Forest and Climate Change Kirti Vardhan Singh. The dialogue is the first universal, multi-stakeholder forum on AI governance under the United Nations system.

3. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has formally named Lashkar-e-Taiba chief Hafiz Saeed in its supplementary chargesheet on the Pahalgam terror attack, directly accusing him of masterminding the cross-border conspiracy that killed 26 civilians in April 2025.This marks a significant escalation in India’s legal pursuit of Pakistan-based terror leadership.

4. Tensions have escalated in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir after one person was killed and several others injured when Pakistan Rangers opened fire on protesters. The incident comes amid a crackdown on demonstrations demanding basic rights, economic relief and political freedoms. Media reports also said that more than 600 civil rights activists have been arrested following anti-Islamabad protests in the region.

1. Huge Crowd Gathers to Bid Farewell to Iran’s Late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei
Millions of mourners gathered in the Iranian capital, Tehran, to pay their final respects to the late Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei. Funeral ceremonies drew massive crowds, with participants chanting religious and political slogans while senior Iranian officials and clerics attended the event.

2. The Hamas militant group said on Monday (July 6, 2026) it had dissolved its government in Gaza and is preparing to transfer power to a technical committee backed by the United Nations as part of a US-brokered ceasefire deal.

3. The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) said that over 300 children have been killed or injured in the last six months in the war in Sudan, mostly from drone strikes. Sudan has been mired in a war between the Sudanese military and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) since April 2023.

4. In Ukraine, at least 10 people were killed and 46 others were injured after Russia launched a ballistic missile attack on the capital, Kyiv.
