1. Finance ministers and business leaders to attend inaugural iBRICS Summit: More than 500 institutional investors, finance ministers and business leaders will participate in the inaugural iBRICS Summit, on the sidelines of BRICS Summit in New Delhi on 12th and 13th of this month.

2. India and Nepal rescue teams are continuing a rescue mission at the Chilime tunnel, removing heavy debris, water and mud from inside the tunnel. Ambassador of India to Nepal Naveen Srivastava said.

3. The United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution on 4 September 2026 to observe 27 November every year as the International Day for the Elimination of Child, Early and Forced Marriage. The resolution was adopted by consensus in the 193-member United Nations and was presented by Dr. Fatima Maada Bio, First Lady of Sierra Leone and President of the Organization of African First Ladies for Development.

4. An 18-year-old student from Douglas, Georgia, has made history by becoming the first Indian American to win the national Miss Teen USA crown. Kiran Reddy defeated 50 other contestants during the 44th annual pageant, held at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts in Miami, Florida, on 26 August 2026.

1. The Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, has welcomed the United Nations General Assembly resolution that encourages the use of the Equal Earth cartographic projection in maps worldwide to replace the Mercator projection widely used so far which distorts the sizes of continental landmasses.

2. The death toll from the devastating flash floods in Nepal has risen to 1,344. Rescue operations are underway in eight affected districts, while around 5,000 people remain missing. More than 13,000 people have been rescued so far.
In Nuwakot district, a 60-year-old woman was rescued alive after being trapped for 10 days under the debris of a four-storey house.

3. The United States has approved a possible military sale to Saudi Arabia valued at an estimated 5 billion dollar. According to a congressional notification issued by the US State Department, the proposed deal includes thousands of precision-guidance kits and general-purpose bombs, containers, spare parts, support equipment, and technical and logistical services.

4 In US, state of Hawaii has declared a statewide emergency to support preparations for the potential impacts of Hurricane Lowell. The National Hurricane Center said Lowell has strengthened back into a Category 4 hurricane, with sustained winds of around 240 kilometres per hour.

5. The UN General Assembly has voted to replace the traditional world map with one that more accurately reflects the size of Africa. The “Correct the Map” resolution, sponsored by Togo and backed by African Union (AU) members, passed with the support of 164 nations, including India, France and the UK.

6. Miss World 2026 has concluded in Vietnam, with the Dominican Republic’s Joheirry Mola emerging as the winner. Reigning Miss World Opal Suchata Chuangsri of Thailand crowned her successor.
