Discipline ensures that I come to work every day: Manish Raisinghani

Actor Manish Raisinghani, who has been a part of shows like “Kahin Kisi Roz,” “Kahin To Hoga,” “Kehna Hai Kuch Mujhko,” “Teen Bahuraniyan,” “Sasural Simar Ka,” and “Ek Shringar-Swabhimaan,” agrees that the pressure after success is greater than the struggle that came before it. He emphasizes that after success, pressure turns into expectations.

He said, “Before success, the pressure is just to survive. After success, the pressure is of expectations, and expectations are a very heavy feeling, aren’t they? (He winks). Because surviving is a natural instinct and it doesn’t allow you to work with the burden of emotions. Before, people expected you to do well. Now, they assume you will do well.
And these assumptions are dangerous; they leave no room for failure, only room for criticism.”

“So yes, the pressure definitely increases, but so does your ability to smile through difficulties. And so does your ability to maintain a sense of gratitude for your next task,” he added.

Personally, to balance the desire to achieve more and the need to persist, he considers persistence to be his discipline. “And ambition is my passion,” he adds. “Discipline ensures I come to work every day; passion ensures I don’t become monotonous or predictable. It’s a bit like a mix of ‘3 Idiots’ and ‘Dhurandhar’; one keeps you grounded, the other always pushes you to do something new and exciting. Courage, fuel, revenge (he winks). And somewhere in between, you always remain relevant.”

Based on his experience in the industry, Manish has experienced times when persistence has been more challenging than reaching great heights. He said, “Great heights are just moments; but persistence is a lifestyle.” There are times when you’ve already proven yourself, yet you have to wake up every morning and prove yourself again, quietly and consistently, without any fanfare or applause. Because people only see your performance, not the hard work or practice behind it.

“That’s the real test, because success only gives you a chance to celebrate once, but persistence is demanded of you every single day,” he added.

For him, success isn’t just about delivering a big, powerful performance, but also about consistently delivering outstanding performances over a long period of time. “A big success introduces you to the world; but it’s your consistency that defines you. Any actor can have their ‘DDLJ moment,’ but not everyone can sustain it for decades like Shah Rukh Khan. Long-term success isn’t just about one hit film; it’s about being present in every moment—with the same hunger and a slightly more discerning heart. Because in the end, as time passes, people forget how big you started; they only remember how long and how beautifully you maintained your relevance,” Manish concludes.
