Tunnel rescue: Plasma cutter lands from Hyderabad
A plasma cutter was flown in from Hyderabad on Sunday to cut and remove parts of the auger machine stuck in the rubble inside the Silkyara tunnel where 41 labourers have been stranded for the last 14 days.

The National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) to forge a strategic partnership in disaster risk reduction. Speaking during an event on 24th Nov 2023, Friday, the Executive Director of NIDM Rajendra Ratnoo said.

11. The severe cyclonic storm that is brewing up in the Bay of Bengal might bring heavy rains to north coastal Andhra as per the present trajectory of the system.

12. In Telangana: About 57 lakh farmers will get their Rythu Bandhu funds on November 28, just two days before the month-end Assembly elections on Thursday. The Election Commission gave permission to the state government to pay out the funds.

13. In J&K : Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra Kick started from Arihal hamlet in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

14. Maharashtra deputy chief minister and NCP leader Ajit Pawar on Saturday said that the state government is stable with support of more than 200 MLAs and the state is doing well under the leadership of Shinde.

15. Recently the Delhi government notified its app-based bus aggregator scheme — Delhi Motor Vehicles Licensing of Aggregator (Premium Buses) Scheme, 2023 — aimed at reducing intra-city usage of private vehicles and curbing pollution in the national capital.

16. In Karnataka : The monuments at Shravanabelagola in Hassan and Lakkundi in Gadag districts are set to be proposed for inclusion on the tentative list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites by the State Department of Archaeology Museums and Heritage (DAMH).

1. Delhi court sentenced four convicts to life imprisonment in TV journalist Soumya Vishwanathan murder case of 2008.

2. The state investigation agency (SIA) on Friday arrested Shabroza Bano, the wife of a jailed Kashmir cleric Sarjan Ahmad Wagay alias Barkati in connection with a terror funding case. Barkati was arrested in August.

3. A senior Punjab police officer Gurbinder Singh has been suspended from his position for alleged negligence of duty surrounding the security lapse during PM Modi’s visit to Punjab’s Ferozpur in the year 2022.

1. At least four students were killed and over 60 sustained injuries in a stampede situation during a concert at the Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), in Kerala on Saturday. The deceased were identified as Athul Thampi, Ann Rifta, Jithendra Damu and Sara Thomas.

The stampede occurred at an auditorium, where a musical programme was underway as part of the Tech Fest being held at the University.

2. The rescue operation of the 41 workers trapped in the collapsed Silkyara tunnel in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand is still on. The National Disaster Management Authority has said that the trapped workers are stable inside the tunnel.

3. An engineer from India, working at a Khulna-Mongla port rail line project in Bangladesh, and his wife were killed in a car accident at Taltala in Satkhira district of Khulna division on Saturday morning.

The deceased were identified as Asim Kumar Biswas, 45, and Chhobi Biswas, 42, of Siliguri, West Bengal.

1. 28th International Film Festival of Kerala : From 08 Dec 2023 to 15 Dec. The IFFK 2023 will be held in in Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum), the capital city of Kerala.
