Global financial services major JP Morgan last week included Indian government securities in its emerging market bond index. It was the first time Indian G-Secs were added to a major global bond index. On Monday Jamie Dimon , one of the longest-serving CEOs of JP Morgan, addressed the bank's summit in Mumbai.

1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the G20 University Connect Finale programme at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on Tuesday.

2. The Swaminarayan Akshardham temple in Robbinsville Township, New Jersey, is set to be inaugurated on 8th October 2023, under the guidance of its spiritual head, Mahant Swami Maharaj. This monumental temple, constructed outside of India, is poised to become the second-largest Hindu temple in the world, following the majestic Angkor Wat in Cambodia.

3. The India-Canada issue, sparked by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s allegations of potential links between the Indian government and the killing of separatist leader Harmeet Singh Nijjar in Canada, has drawn the attention of the Five Eyes Alliance.

1946, an alliance was formed between five anglophone countries and their security agencies: the US (NSA), the UK (GCHQ), Australia (ASD), Canada (CSEC) and New Zealand (GCSB) comprising of a series of bilateral agreements on surveillance and intelligence-sharing.

4. As the second round of the Presidential election in the Maldives approaches on September 30th, concerns over the spread of fake news have emerged.

The High Commission of India in the Maldives has issued a press release denouncing a sustained campaign of fake reports aimed at harassing Indian high commission officials and the Indian expat community residing in the Maldives.

These fake reports appear to be designed to create animosity and fear among the Maldivian public, potentially straining the friendly relations between India and the Maldives.

5. Canadian Sikhs staged small protests outside India’s diplomatic missions on Monday (Sep 25), a week after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said there may be a link between New Delhi and the murder of a Sikh separatist advocate in British Columbia.

1. 🇫🇷France has said that it will pull its soldiers out of Niger following a July coup in the West African country. French President Emmanuel Macron said, 1,500 troops would withdraw by the end of the year.

2. 🇵🇭Philippines said on Monday (Sep 25) it executed a “special operation” to remove a floating barrier installed by 🇨🇳China at a prime fishing patch in the South China Sea, a move that could stoke tension after a years-long detente in Asia’s most disputed waters.

3. Thousands of refugees from Nagorno-Karabakh streamed into 🇦🇲Armenia on Monday (Sep 25) as a deadly blast rocked a fuel depot in the rebel enclave and 🇦🇿Azerbaijan and ally Türkiye hailed Baku’s victory over the majority ethnic Armenian area.

4. Brazilian 🇧🇷President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said on Monday (Sep 25) that 🇻🇳Vietnam has expressed interest in a trade deal with the Mercosur bloc of Brazil, 🇦🇷Argentina, 🇵🇾Paraguay and 🇺🇾Uruguay.

5. The death toll from a fire at a golf ball factory in southern 🇹🇼Taiwan over the weekend has risen to at least nine.They include four firefighters who died in an explosion.

6. 🇺🇸US President Joe Biden’s administration on Monday (Sep 25) imposed new trade restrictions on 11 Chinese and five Russian companies, accusing some of supplying components to make drones for Russia’s war effort in 🇺🇦Ukraine.
