Vishwakarma Puja (विश्वकर्मा जयन्ती)
Vishwakarma Puja falls on September 17, Sunday, this year. The festival is dedicated to Lord Vishwakarma, considered the creator of the world. Devotees often refer to him as the divine engineer of the world and celebrate his birth on Kanya Sankranti as per the Hindu calendar. It is believed that Lord Vishwakarma was born out of Samudra Manthan along with other precious things. Vishwakarma due to this divine skill is worshipped by all craftsmen, architects and office workers.

This is an auspicious day dedicated to Lord Vishwakarma who is known to be the divine architect & creator of all the palaces of Hindu Gods and Goddesses along with their weapons and vehicles.

2. PM Modi will launch a new scheme named PM Vishwakarma today at International Convention and Expo Centre, Yashobhoomi, in New Delhi on the occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti.

3. To mark the 73rd Birthday celebrations of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, (Born on 17 September 1950 in Gujarat’s Vadnagar) the Gujarat Yog Board is organising two-day Yoga shivirs at 73 different locations across the State.

1. Kerala Excise Department and customs officials from Kolkata seized 80 kilograms of MDMA drugs Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Drugs worth Rs 100 crores.

In Telangana, the Cyberabad police on Friday warned software professionals in Hyderabad against taking up any rallies in coordination with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) to express solidarity with party president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu who was arrested in connection with the multi-crore skill development corporation scam last week.

3. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) which carried out simultaneous searches in 31 places in Tamil Nadu and Telangana on Saturday, said Islamic regional study centres were used to radicalise gullible youth in the name of Arabic classes.

NIA said its sleuths seized currencies to the tune of Rs 60 lakh and US$18,200 and incriminating books in vernacular and Arabic languages.
