It will take around four months to reach the Lagrange point. The advantage of a halo orbit around the L1 point is that the satellite can observe the solar activities without any obstruction by other celestial activities like eclipse. The Aditya L1 mission is to study the solar winds and Sun’s atmosphere.

18. The TELANGANA State Pollution Control Board (TSPCB) launched a quiz competition for students to create awareness about eco-friendly idols during the upcoming Ganesh festival. The competition carries Rs 10 lakh prize money in each district across the state.
The top three prizes in each district will carry cash awards of Rs 10,000, Rs 5,000 and Rs 3,000. Participants will get e-certificates.

1. The Supreme Court has sentenced Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and four-time MP from Bihar Prabhunath to life imprisonment in the 1995 double murder case. Prabhunath Singh is accused of killing two people at a polling booth in Mashrakh in 1995. The Apex Court also ordered paying compensation of 10 lakh rupees to the victims.
2. National Human Rights Commission has issued notice to the Madhya Pradesh government over the reported death of five workers while cleaning a tank at a factory in Morena district. NHRC took suo motu cognizance of a media report about the death of workers while cleaning the tank on 30th August this year.
3. National Investigation Agency, NIA has made significant seizures in connection with conspiracy by Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent, and Teherik-e-Taliban to recruit and radicalize youth in order to spread terror in India. The seizures were made during multiple raids across Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu. A host of incriminating digital devices were recovered during the searches.
4. A 24-year-old Pakistani was arrested on Thursday for illegally staying in the city with his Hyderabadi wife Fatima for the past 10 months. The couple had married about three years ago in UAE while working in Sharjah.
It was Fatima’s parents, Zubair Shaik and Afzal Begum, who helped their Pakistani son-in-law in illegally crossing the Nepal border and reaching Hyderabad. Both have also been booked and are absconding.

6. The gross GST revenue collected in August is 1,59,069 crore rupees. This includes CGST of 28,328 crores, SGST of 35,794 crores, and IGST of 83,251 crores. The government has settled 37,581 crores to CGST and 31,408 crores to SGST from IGST. The total revenue of Centre and the States in August after regular settlement is 65,909 crore for CGST and 67,202 crore for SGST.
7. The domestic raw coking coal production in the country is projected to reach 140 million tonnes by 2030.

1. India’s naval warship MAHENDRAGIRI launches in Mumbai.
