1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a day-long visit to Rajasthan and Gujarat today. The Prime Minister will first travel to Rajasthan, where he will inaugurate the new terminal building of Jodhpur Airport today.

2. In the Kashmir Valley, a total of 12,168 devotees reached the holy Amarnath Ji cave shrine on the first day of the Yatra and paid obeisance to Lord Shiva. Pilgrims visited the cave amid tight security and elaborate arrangements.

3. Ministry of Jal Shakti has launched the 7th National Water Awards on the Rashtriya Puraskar portal of Ministry of Home Affairs. All the applications can be sent through the online Rashtriya Puraskar portal, www.awards.gov.in. Eligible organisations, entities and applicants may visit the portal or the website of Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, www.jalshakti-dowr.gov.in for further details. The last date to submit applications is 28th of the next month.

4. Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, yesterday unveiled the first export-import shipping container manufactured in India for global shipping major A.P. Moller-Maersk in Dadri, Uttar Pradesh.

5. A two-day orientation programme for the newly elected Members of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly has been inaugurated by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla at the New Town Convention Centre in Kolkata.

6. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has enabled free email updates in Aadhaar directly through the Aadhaar App. This move is effective from the 1st of July for a period of six months. The Ministry of Electronics and IT informed that within two days of the new service being available on the Aadhaar App, over 2.5 lakh people have updated their email address.

7. Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena on Friday launched an employment-linked skill training programme for Ladakhi youth, under which 36 shortlisted candidates from all seven districts of the Union Territory will undergo industry-oriented residential training in New Delhi with assured placement assistance.

8. Ministry of Panchayati Raj organised a National Workshop of State Panchayati Raj Ministers in New Delhi today to deliberate on the recommendations of the Sixteenth Finance Commission. The Ministry informed that four lakh 35 thousand 236 crore rupees have been recommended for Rural Local Bodies under the 16th Finance Commission.

9. Delhi govt. launched the ‘Delhi Next – Code, Create and Change’ programme on 2 July 2026 as a civic-tech innovation initiative for government departments in the National Capital Territory of Delhi. The programme plans to pilot 60 projects for urban problem-solving through technology-based solutions.

10. The Ministry of Steel will conduct an Open House to discuss issues related to import of steel on 9th of this month in New Delhi. The Ministry said that companies and associations can present their issues related to import of steel on this day.

11. Lokhande Prashant Sitaram, a 2001-batch Indian Administrative Service officer of the AGMUT cadre, was appointed Additional Secretary in the Department of Home under the Ministry of Home Affairs on 2 July 2026.

12. Gujarat Police have launched Operation Surakshit Cyberspace, a 28-day campaign to improve online safety for women and children through cyber awareness, technology-driven policing and community outreach.

13. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan yesterday reviewed the situation regarding below-normal rainfall and its impact in certain parts of the country due to El Niño.

14. The Government of India has launched the Viksit Bharat G-Ram G Yojana, offering a 125-day rural employment guarantee, higher wages, legal safeguards, and massive investments to strengthen village development.

15. The Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into some more parts of Gujarat, Rajasthan and Haryana and remaining parts of Madhya Pradesh today.
The India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall with isolated extremely heavy rainfall over Gujarat Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Odisha and West Madhya Pradesh.

1. The Department of Legal Affairs and the Legislative Department, Ministry of Law and Justice will jointly organise Reforms Utsav and Chintan Shivir 2026 from today at Mount Abu, Rajasthan.

2. The Delhi High Court on Friday (July 3, 2026) directed the Centre’s Grievance Appellate Committee (GAC) to decide within 15 days an appeal seeking the removal of a YouTube video by Dhruv Rathee. Ms. Sachdeva, in her petition, contends that the video, uploaded on March 21, 2026, contains statements that are “patently false, misleading and deliberately distorted” and capable of promoting communal disharmony.

3. The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has issued notices to the Karnataka Chief Secretary and Director General of Police over the reported incidents of toddlers being treated inhumanely by the nannies at a creche in an IT company in Bengaluru, Karnataka.

4. Former Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) Minister V. Senthilbalaji’s brother R.V. Ashok Kumar, 47, has approached the Madras High Court seeking anticipatory bail in a case registered against him for having allegedly offered a bribe of ₹35 crore to Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) N. Elaiyaraja, representing the Uthangarai constituency.

5. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has directed the Broadcast Audience Research Council BARC to stop publishing television ratings across both news and non-news genres until its licence is renewed under the Television Ratings Policy, 2026.

6. Government has ordered the removal of the BAT-BMS, Epoch-i-ion and Lossigy apps from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store over security concerns. The action followed allegations that the applications were being used to remotely disable e-vehicles, including e-rickshaws.

After years of delays and an extended battle with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), director Honey Trehan’s much-awaited Punjab 95 has finally found its way to audiences. Now retitled Satluj, the film began streaming exclusively on ZEE5 on Friday evening. Starring Diljit Dosanjh, Kanwaljeet Singh, Arjun Rampal, Suvinder Vicky and Geetika Vidya Ohlyan, among others, the film is inspired by the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra.
