1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a six day visit to Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand from Monday.
2. Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal that 40 Metric Tons of biscuits manufactured in Varanasi have been exported to Oman under the India-Oman Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), advancing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of taking ‘Made In India’ products to the world.
3. Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri said that India endured the closure of Hormuz without any shortages anywhere in the country. Sharing his thoughts in a blog, Mr Puri said that India will build additional capabilities to strengthen its energy resilience.
4. Government says Indus Waters Treaty remains suspended; Pakistan must renounce support to cross-border terrorism. Spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs Randhir Jaiswal said India’s position on the Indus Waters Treaty is consistent. He said, Pakistan must credibly and irrevocably renounce its support for cross-border terrorism.
5. Japan has reaffirmed cooperation for India to begin commercial operations on priority sections of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail project by 2027. The 508-kilometre corridor uses Japanese Shinkansen technology and is planned to introduce E10 trains on the route.
6. Canada Cuts Super Visa Processing Time for Indians : The Super Visa is a Canadian long-stay visa for parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada reduced the Super Visa processing time for Indian applicants to 50 days as of 3 July 2026. The earlier processing time was 66 days.

1. Global crude oil prices declined yesterday. Brent crude was trading 0.2 per cent down at 71 US dollars and 68 cents per barrel. West Texas Intermediate crude was trading 0.4 per cent down at 68 US dollars and 41 cents per barrel.
2. France has reported a sharp rise in deaths during the hottest week of last month’s record-breaking heat wave. According to Public Health France, nearly nine thousand deaths were recorded between June 22 and 28, about 29 per cent higher than the previous week, indicating at least 2,000 additional deaths.
3. Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi issued a sharp warning to the United States. In a social media post, Araghchi urged President Donald Trump to restrain its close ally Israel from threatening Iran after Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz said that Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei was marked for death. He said any threat against Iran’s leadership would receive a strong response.
4. The Prime Minister of Moldova, Alexandru Munteanu, announced his resignation yesterday in a surprise move which also triggers the collapse of his cabinet. Alexandru Munteanu, who was appointed by President Maia Sandu in November 2025 following the victory of her pro-European Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) in parliamentary elections.
5. NASA launches mission to raise Swift Observatory’s orbit: NASA’s Swift Observatory is set for a crucial rescue mission after a spacecraft was successfully launched to boost its shrinking orbit. Northrop Grumman launched Katalyst Space Technologies’ Link spacecraft aboard a Pegasus rocket from the Marshall Islands on Friday.
6. Venezuela’s acting President Delcy Rodríguez has declared seven days of national mourning as the death toll from the powerful earthquakes that struck the country on 24 June rose to 2,595, with more than 12,000 people injured and 189 buildings destroyed.
7. Russia has said that at least five people were killed and 18 others injured after a drone strike hit a market in Tokmak in the Zaporizhzhia region.
8. International Booker Prize Renamed as Bukhman International Booker Prize with Doubled Prize Money:
The International Booker Prize will become the Bukhman International Booker Prize from 2027, featuring a £100,000 award, a 10-year funding deal and a new judging panel.
