1. The Bhartiya Janata Party, BJP has scripted history in West Bengal by securing an overwhelming mandate in the 294-member state assembly. The ruling BJP-led NDA has secured a historic third consecutive term in Assam. In Keralam, the United Democratic Front has swept the polls with 99 seats, signalling a decisive return to power. Puducherry is expected to witness the return of a National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government led by N Rangaswamy’s All India N.R. Congress (AINRC). In Tamil Nadu, Actor turned politician Vijay’s party TVK is poised to deliver a super hit on debut.
2. In West Bengal, BJP candidate Suvendu Adhikari defeated Chief Minister and TMC leader Mamata Banerjee in the Bhabanipur assembly constituency by more than 15 thousand votes.
3. In Puducherry, the National Democratic Alliance is set to form the next government, securing a comfortable majority of 18 in the 30-member House.

6. In Assembly Bye Elections for seven Constituencies across five States, BJP has won a seat each in Gujarat, Tripura and Nagaland, and is leading in one in Maharashtra. Congress has won two seats in Karnataka, while in Maharashtra BJP ally Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) is leading in the other constituency where bypoll was held.
7. The Election Commission has ordered repolling in Falta constituency to be held on the 21st of this month and counting on the 24th.

Actor-politician Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam on Monday created a record of sorts in the electoral history of Tamil Nadu and emerged as the single largest party by delivering a shock defeat to incumbent Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and its president, Chief Minister MK Stalin in his Kolathur constituency, while the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam was pushed to a distant third spot.
This was the first time since 1967, when the first non-Congress government (DMK) came to power in the state, that a party other than the two Dravidian heavyweights emerged victorious in the hustings.
9. The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is observing a nationwide Fire Safety Week from 4 May to 10 May 2026 across healthcare facilities in India. The observance covers hospitals, medical colleges, district hospitals, and multi-speciality hospitals.

Most of these collections came from the Marathi version at Rs. 26.50 crore approx, but even the Hindi versions contributed well, with Rs. 13.25 crore approx.
