1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor in Uttarakhand yesterday. The corridor passes through Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. It will reduce travel time between Delhi and Dehradun from more than six hours at present to about two and a half hours.
2. Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister and BJP leader Samrat Choudhary will take oath as the new Chief Minister of the state today.
3. Campaigning for Assembly Elections in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu is in full swing. Top leaders of various parties are holding public meetings and addressing rallies to woo voters.
4. The Assembly election in West Bengal will be held in two phases. The first phase of the election will be held on 23rd April and the second on 29th April.
5. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal is scheduled to visit Tamil Nadu on April 20, where he will address election rallies in support of the DMK and chief minister MK Stalin on April 20 and 21.
6. The Union government has proposed a major expansion of the Lok Sabha, increasing its strength from 543 to 850 members. The move is linked to the implementation of women’s reservation and a fresh delimitation exercise.
7. The Minister of the Science & Technology Jitendra Singh announced that the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) is developing the AI-powered platform called SARAL AI. This platform will convert the complex research publications into the simple and easy-to-understand social media content in 18 Indian languages.
9. Puthandu which is also known as Tamil New Year was celebrated yesterday on the April 14th. This day marks the beginning of the Tamil calendar year. Puthandu is also called as the Varusha Pirappu. It is the first day of the Tamil month Chithirai and it marks the start of a new year in the Tamil solar calendar.

1. Actor and politician Vijay has filed an appeal before a Division Bench of the Madras High Court against a single-judge’s recent judgment upholding a ₹1.5 crore income tax penalty imposed on him.
2. A court in Lucknow on Monday sentenced three terrorists linked to the Al-Qaeda-affiliated terror module Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGH) to life imprisonment for conspiring to carry out serial blasts in Uttar Pradesh and other parts of the country.
Special Judge (NIA/ATS) Jitendra Kumar Pandey convicted and sentenced Minhaj Ahmad alias Minhaj, Musiruddin alias Musir alias Raju, and Tauheed Ahmad Shah alias Sobu Shah in the case investigated by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

In Chhattisgarh, at least nine workers have been killed in a boiler explosion at the Vedanta power plant in Sakti district. More than forty workers have sustained burn injuries. Eight are reported to be in critical condition. The plant is located in Singhanterai village of Dabhra block.
The injured have been admitted to nearby hospitals.

2. Missile Test NOTAM Cancelled: The 1,780 km NOTAM previously issued over the Bay of Bengal for a missile test between April 12 and April 14 has now been officially cancelled.
3. Pakistan Seeks Chinese AWACS: Pakistan is moving to acquire China’s KJ-500 Airborne Early Warning and Control (AWACS) aircraft to replace the two Saab 2000 AWACS it reportedly lost during the 2025 conflict with India.
4. Lieutenant General RS Sundaram has assumed charge as the Director General of Recruiting of the Indian Army, marking a significant leadership transition in the Army’s recruitment framework

Prachand Assembly Line Inaugurated: The Secretary of Defence Production formally inaugurated the Prachand Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) production line at HAL’s new Greenfield helicopter factory in Tumakuru. The facility will also produce Light Utility Helicopters (LUH) and support the future Indian Multi-Role Helicopter (IMRH) and Deck-Based Multi-Role Helicopter (DBMRH).
6. 500 Ajeet Drones Delivered: Chennai-based Zuppa Navigation successfully delivered over 500 ‘Ajeet’ drones to the Indian Army, significantly enhancing its tactical ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance) capabilities.
7. Tunguska M1 Upgrades: The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) approved a ₹4,445 crore procurement focused on upgrading the Indian Army’s Tunguska M1 air defense systems. The upgrade includes integrating advanced 9M311-M1 missiles to effectively counter evolving threats such as drones, cruise missiles, and low-flying targets.
8. Australia has appointed Susan Coyle as its first-ever female Army Chief, with the announcement made in April 2026. She will officially assume charge in July 2026.
