1. Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited, which operates as India’s premier Defence Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, has officially announced a landmark international expansion. The company has successfully completed the acquisition of a controlling 51 per cent stake in Colombo Dockyard PLC, the largest shipyard in Sri Lanka.
2. India and the United States have reached a landmark agreement on the transfer of fighter jet engine technology, marking the first such military technology sharing between the two nations.
The deal involves co-production of the F-414 jet engine in India, with nearly 80 per cent of the manufacturing technology and intellectual property rights being transferred from US-based General Electric to India.
3. Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a telephone call from US President Donald Trump. In a social media post, Mr Modi said that both leaders discussed the situation in West Asia and stressed the importance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open and secure.
4. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) said that India’s growth outlook remains resilient despite rising global uncertainty triggered by the West Asia conflict.

3. Ukraine and Germany signed a defence cooperation agreement during Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s visit to Berlin today. The deal expands military cooperation between the two countries, with increased German support in key areas such as air defence, long-range weapons, drones, and ammunition.
4. Bangladesh thousands of people across the country marked Pohela Boishakh with cultural events, traditional processions and community gatherings as they ushered in the Bengali New Year.
5. Nepal celebrates the new year yesterday with festivities across the country. Baisakh 1 is marked as the first day of the Bikram Sambat calendar. It is a national holiday celebrated with joyous gatherings, temple visits, and cultural festivals like Biska Jatra.
