1. Campaigning for Assembly Elections in Assam, Keralam and Puducherry ends; Polling on 9th of April. Polling for all 126 Assembly constituencies of Assam, 140 in Keralam and 30 seats in Puducherry will be held in a single phase on the 9th of April.

6. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has released the Draft Telecom Consumer Protection (Thirteenth Amendment) Regulation, 2026. TRAI said that it had earlier issued Telecom Consumer Protection (twelfth Amendment) Regulation, 2024 wherein the Authority mandated that every telecom service provider shall offer at least one Special Tariff Voucher exclusively for Voice and SMS.
7. The National Human Rights Commission yesterday organised a meeting of its Core Group on Right to Food and Nutrition in New Delhi. The meeting focused on the theme Tackling Food Adulteration in India.
8. Government e Marketplace (GeM) has reached a cumulative Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) of ₹18.4 lakh crore, with over ₹5 lakh crore achieved in the financial year 2025–26 alone. This milestone reflects the growing adoption of digital procurement systems in India and highlights the platform’s role in enhancing transparency and efficiency in public procurement.
9. After IndiGo introduced higher fuel charges, Air India has now announced a revised fuel surcharge for both domestic and international flights, reflecting the surge in global jet fuel prices amid the ongoing West Asia conflict.
10. The India Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rainfall over Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh till Thursday. It has also predicted thundersquall accompanied by strong winds over Bihar, Jharkhand and Sikkim.

1. In West Bengal, over 32 lakh voters have been confirmed as eligible, while nearly 27 lakh have been marked ineligible, as the Election Commission released the full list of voters under judicial review under the Special Intensive Revision of the electoral roll.
2. A nine-judge Constitution bench of the Supreme Court commenced hearing petitions concerning alleged discrimination against women at religious places including the Sabarimala temple, and the scope of religious freedom across faiths. Ahead of the hearing, the Centre submitted written arguments urging the apex court to uphold restrictions on the entry of women of menstruating age into the Sabarimala temple.
3. Assam Police conducted searches at Congress leader Pawan Khera’s residence in New Delhi yesterday. The searches came after Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s wife Riniki Bhuyan Sarma lodged an FIR against Mr Khera. During a press conference in New Delhi, Mr Khera had claimed that Riniki Bhuyan holds three passports.
4. Cash payments at toll plazas will be discontinued for travellers on National Highways from April 10, 2026,” the Road Transport and Highways Ministry has said.
In a gazette notification, the Ministry has said that in cases where a vehicle enters a toll fee plaza without a valid FASTag, users can still pay via Unified Payment Interface (UPI), but at a higher charge of 1.25 times the applicable toll fee.
5. The impeachment motion against the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar has been rejected by both Houses of Parliament. The decision was taken by the Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Rajya Sabha Chairman C. P. Radhakrishnan after the evaluation. This motion was backed by the Opposition members and they had alleged the bias in electoral processes.

In Manipur, the Tronglaobi blast in Bishnupur district, which killed two children including an infant, has triggered widespread protests across the state. Demonstrations and road blockades have been reported from several valley districts. In view of this, the curfew imposed earlier, will continue without any relaxation until further orders in five valley districts – Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Kakching, and Bishnupur.
Violence broke out in Manipur’s Bishnupur district on Tuesday as two children were killed in a bomb attack on their home, while two others were shot dead when a mob stormed into a CRPF camp during a protest against the blast.

1. The Indian Air Force’s TEJAS fleet is scheduled to return to operational status on 8 April 2026, following a two-month grounding triggered by a “rude landing” in February.

2. The Indian government has officially issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) regarding a projected missile test within the Bay of Bengal, situated off the coast of Odisha. 3. India’s indigenously developed electric heavyweight torpedo, Takshak, is set to begin trials soon, according to reports. The plan is to conduct the tests from the Kalvari‑class advanced diesel‑electric attack submarines by the end of 2026.

3. Bollywood actor Salman Khan on Tuesday told the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) that the Jaipur District Consumer Commission treated him unfairly and refused to provide certified copies of its orders in proceedings arising from a complaint over a misleading advertisement.
The case arose from a complaint filed in December 2025 before the Jaipur District Consumer Commission by Advocate Yogendra Singh Badiyal against Rajshree Pan Masala and Salman Khan. The complaint alleges that advertisements for “Rajshree Elaichi” are a surrogate for pan masala promotion and amount to misleading advertisements under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. Khan has been arrayed as Opposite Party No. 2 in his capacity as brand ambassador.
