1. Dr Dmitry Trenin, the newly elected president of the Kremlin-backed Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC), has emphasised the importance of maintaining a positive balance in Russia’s relations with its two Asian strategic partners, India and China.
2. The Indian Embassy in Tehran has urged citizens to remain where they are for the next 48 hours, avoid electric and military installations, stay off upper floors of multi-storey buildings, and coordinate any highway movement strictly with the Embassy. 3. Thirty Indian fishermen who were released from Sri Lankan prisons reached Chennai by flight yesterday. The fishermen from Rameswaram and Karaikal had gone fishing and were fishing near Pamban. The Sri Lankan Navy arrested them for trespassing into international waters.
