To celebrate International Women’s Day and honor the dedication of female cops, Motherhood Hospital, Kharghar, has taken a meaningful step toward their well-being by organizing a free special health check-up camp at Police HQ, Navi Mumbai. The camp benefited approximately 300 female police personnel. Commissioner of Police Milind Bharambe and DCP Rashmi Nandedkar were present on the occasion.

Motherhood Hospital has taken the initiative by offering comprehensive health screenings, ensuring they receive the medical attention they deserve. The hospital’s expert team of doctors, including Dr. Pratima Thamke, Dr. Surabhi Siddhartha, Dr. Anuja Thomas, and Dr. Shruti Ugran, conducted comprehensive screenings and provided medical guidance to help lady cops recognize and address early symptoms of potential health concerns.

Women often neglect their own health due to busy schedules, family responsibilities, and professional commitments. However, preventive health checks play a crucial role in the early detection and management of serious conditions

Dr Pratima Thamke, Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist, Motherhood Hospital, Kharghar, said, “Lady cops dedicate their lives to serving and protecting society, often at the cost of their health. This physically and mentally demanding profession often leaves them with little time to prioritize their health, neglecting the symptoms of potential health issues. They must receive the same care and attention they give to others. Ignoring symptoms like abnormal bleeding, persistent abdominal pain, irregular menstrual cycles, pelvic discomfort, bloating, or unusual fatigue can lead to delayed diagnosis of fibroids, ovarian cysts, endometriosis, hormonal imbalances, thyroid disorders, or even early-stage cancers. Regular screenings, such as Pap smears, thyroid panels, bone health tests, and blood work, help identify potential risks early and enable timely medical intervention.

Dr Rupali Kadam, Facility director, Motherhood Hospitals, Kharghar, said,” At Motherhood Hospitals, we believe that women, especially those in demanding professions like law enforcement, must prioritize their health just as they do their duty. Through this initiative on International Women’s Day, we aim to raise awareness about the importance of preventive health checks. By offering these essential screenings, we hope to empower female police personnel to take charge of their well-being while continuing their invaluable service to society.”

Motherhood Hospital remains committed to empowering women with the right healthcare resources and awareness. On International Women’s Day, the hospital reaffirms its mission to encourage women to prioritize their health, undergo regular check-ups, and never ignore symptoms that may indicate underlying health issues.

Police Commissioner Milind Bharambe said, ” While women are juggling family and work, they tend to neglect their health. However, to survive in today’s competitive era, it is more important to be healthy. This initiative by Motherhood Hospital is commendable. This initiative uwas ndertaken by Motherhood Hospital for the health of women police officers and will help to assess their concerns. The initiative will enable them to perform their responsibilities more effectively at home and at work.

Ms Rashmi Nandedkar, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Navi Mumbai, said, “The well-being of a woman is the cornerstone of a healthy family. When a woman’s health deteriorates, the entire family is impacted. That’s why proactive health checkups are crucial for every woman. By prioritizing their own health, women can ensure a happier, healthier family.”
