1. Governments of Andhra Pradesh and Australia have signed four Memoranda of Understanding in Amaravati strengthen cooperation in clean energy, advanced manufacturing, inclusive education, student mental health and skill development.

2. The Parliamentary Standing Committee on External Affairs has suggested in its report that the Central Government appoints a “Polar Representative” for enabling India to enhance its activities in the Arctic and Antarctic regions. The report titled “India’s Role and Presence in the Arctic and Antarctic Regions” was released in Parliament on July 30th, 2026.

3. Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with the newly elected Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Andy Burnham, and emphasised that both countries would work closely to fully harness the trade and investment opportunities presented by the recently operationalised India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement.

1. In the United States, Washington Governor Bob Ferguson has declared a statewide emergency and imposed a burn ban as fast-spreading wildfires, driven by strong winds, scorched nearly 3,000 acres and forced thousands of people to evacuate.

2. Spain has said the death toll in the Ceuta border crisis with Morocco has risen to 72. The victims include migrants who drowned and others who died in a stampede while attempting to cross into the Spanish enclave.

3. Iran rejects US President Trump’s claim of requesting pause in military strikes.

US President Donald Trump said the United States had agreed to hold off a planned military attack on Iran after Tehran and several Middle Eastern countries requested a pause, claiming that the framework of a potential agreement had been reached.

4. The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries plus (OPEC+) has agreed to increase oil production by 188 thousand barrels per day from September this year.

5. In China, four people were killed and two injured after a fire broke out at a high-rise apartment building in Changsha, Hunan Province.

6. In Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, a Hindu rights organisation has announced a province-wide outreach campaign to press the provincial government for effective implementation of constitutional safeguards for minorities.

7. In Indonesia, five persons lost their lives and 41 are still missing after a ferry carrying 271 passengers and crew caught fire while at sea off Madura Island yesterday. Country’s Search and Rescue Agency said, of those on board, 225 have been rescued so far.

8. Pacific island nation of Nauru has officially adopted the name Republic of Naoero. The change was confirmed by President David Adeang on 31 July 2026 after a constitutional amendment was passed by the parliament in May 2026.
