Fever by Logan George and Celine Held

Four young people unknowingly walk toward a moment that brings out their most basic instincts

Stories connect us. They take us beyond our own limited worlds. They show us ways other than our own, ways of being and of seeing. But most importantly, they show us how, beyond all the differences, we are essentially all the same.
In this New Year, let us continue to discover films that expand our worldview while also bringing us all a little bit closer to each other.

Our pursuit of blurring the lines is beautifully reflected in this week’s film ‘Fever’. Four young people, belonging to different cultures and countries, are connected through a ‘coming of age’ moment of sorts. The film builds up these four stories in unison, intercutting seamlessly between very different situations, until it rises to a crescendo. Despite each story addressing a different subject (bullying, anxiety, peer pressure, infatuation), the stories fit well together. This is because of the strong thematic thread of ‘youthful mistakes’ that keeps the narrative moving along nicely. Filmed across four countries, and with limited resources, ‘Fever’ is an ambitious short film by the director duo.
