1. India won 11 medals — four gold, five silver and two bronze — on day one of the Asian Para Games.
Mona Agarwal won the women’s 10m air rifle SH1 gold with a Games record of 250.0, ahead of Avani Lekhara (249.6), while Nishad Kumar (long jump T47, 7.11 m), Rinku (javelin F46) and Soumya (1500m T12/13) also won gold.
2. Archer Sheetal Devi equalled the world record of 704 out of 720 in the women’s compound qualification round at the Asian Para Games, setting a new Asian record.
3. Mizoram’s Chinmay Sutar remained 400 not out off 517 balls against Nagaland at Sovima in the Ranji Trophy Plate, becoming only the second Indian to score 400 in a first-class innings after B.B. Nimbalkar (443*). Mizoram declared at 581 for nine.
4. Former India spinner Ramesh Powar was appointed to the BCCI senior men’s selection committee, now headed by Pragyan Ojha, with Shiv Sundar Das, RP Singh and Ajay Ratra as the other members. The vacancy arose after Ajit Agarkar’s retirement.
5. IRS officer Ekta Vishnoi won three gold medals in the 57 kg category at the World Masters Powerlifting Championships in Nevada, USA, with a total lift of 362.5 kg.
6. Ten-year-old Arshi Gupta of Faridabad won the Mini Max category at the FMSCI RMC India National Karting Championship 2026 in Bengaluru, becoming the world’s youngest driver to win the Rotax MAX Challenge (RMC) Mini title.
