2. At the Asian Under-17 Boxing Championships, Indian young boxers concluded their historic campaign yesterday by winning two gold medals and seven silver medals in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. India also bagged eight bronze medals in the Under-17 category. With this, the total number of medals won by the boys’ and girls’ teams of the country combined reached 17 in this category.
Earlier, in the Asian Under-15 Boxing Championships, India won a total of 27 medals, including nine gold, six silver, and twelve bronze medals.
3. Harjinder Kaur won a bronze medal at the Asian Weightlifting Championships in Gandhinagar yesterday. She secured the bronze in the women’s 69 kg category snatch event by lifting 96 kg. Harjinder also lifted 121 kg in the clean and jerk event and finished fourth overall with a total lift of 217 kg.
4. Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya chaired a high-level review meeting to assess India’s preparations for the Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2026 scheduled to be held in Glasgow, Scotland.
5. Sahdev Yadav has been elected as the President of the South Asian Weightlifting Federation (SAWF). His election to the chair marks the strengthening India’s leadership in South Asia sports governance and is expected to boost cooperation.
