4. Renowned Indian shooting coach and former Asian Games gold medallist Jaspal Rana has passed away. He was 49. According to National Rifle Association of India president Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo, Jaspal, has been widely credited as the man behind ace shooter Manu Bhaker’s rise in the sport.
He was awarded the Arjuna Award in 1994 and the Padma Shri in 1997 and the Dronacharya Award in 2020.
He won multiple medals at the Asian Games and Commonwealth Games. Rana won a gold medal at the 1994 Milan World Championship in the junior category with a world-record score, announcing his arrival on the global stage at the age of just 18.
