National record holder Sarvesh Kushare scripted history as he became the first Indian to win a silver medal in the men’s high jump event in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
He cleared 2.25 metres in the final but did not clear 2.28 metres in three attempts, narrowly missing out on the gold. Jamaica’s Romaine Beckford also cleared 2.25 metres but was awarded the gold medal on countback after achieving the height on his first attempt, while England’s Kimani Jack took bronze with a best jump of 2.20 metres.
