New Delhi, August 28: South Delhi Superstarz registered a convincing 60-run win against East Delhi Riders in the Women’s Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2026, with captain Shweta Sehrawat leading the way with a brilliant unbeaten 75.
Batting first, South Delhi posted an imposing 179/6 in 20 overs, the highest total of the tournament so far. Shweta took charge of the innings, smashing 75 not out off just 36 balls, including eight fours and four sixes.
She received good support from Tanisha, who scored a quick 40 off 27 balls with six boundaries. Nishika Singh also contributed 29 off 26 balls, while Tanishqa Singh (10) and Ekta Bhadana (8) helped the team maintain the momentum in the final overs.
Reflecting on her 40-run contribution in the team’s win, Tanisha said, “Priya, Shweta and I were planning to spend as much time as possible at the crease. We were successful in doing that. Shweta batted till the end, while Priya and I took care of the middle and the early overs. That helped us set a target of around 180.”
Speaking about her batting position, she said, “I have batted at No. 3, opened the innings and also played in the middle order in domestic cricket. So, it was not difficult for me. Wherever ma’am sends me, I will do my best.”
For East Delhi Riders, Parunika Sisodia was the best bowler with 2/23 in four overs, while Simran Bahadur, Purva Siwach and Bharti Rawal picked up one wicket each.
Chasing 180, East Delhi Riders struggled to build partnerships and finished on 119/8 in 20 overs. Simran Bahadur and Purva Siwach top-scored with 25 runs each, while Pragya Rawat added 20 off 26 balls.
South Delhi’s bowlers kept control of the chase throughout. Disha Nagar was the standout bowler with 3/25, while Himakshi Choudhary returned excellent figures of 2/20. Kashish and Mayuri Singh picked up one wicket each.
East Delhi could not accelerate during the middle and final overs, allowing South Delhi to complete a comfortable 60-run victory at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
The result further strengthens South Delhi Superstarz’s position in the competition, with Shweta’s match-winning knock providing the perfect platform for a dominant team performance.
