India have won gold in the 2026 Asian Games women’s cricket competition, beating Sri Lanka by a commanding 147 runs in the final.
After posting a formidable 216 for 3, powered by Smriti Mandhana’s brilliant 79 and Richa Ghosh’s unbeaten 49, India bowled Sri Lanka out for just 69 in 15.4 overs.
The Indian bowlers were relentless, with Deepti Sharma claiming four wickets while Shree Charani and Shreyanka Patil also made important breakthroughs.
The victory margin was India’s highest ever in all women’s T20Is, eclipsing a 144-run win over Malaysia in 2018. Their flawless run to the title, three years on since beating the same opponents in the final of the Hangzhou Games in 2023, opened India’s gold medal count at the ongoing Games.
