Chennai Super Kings steals the show from Punjab Kings

Punjab Kings opened the first innings on the grounds of Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.

CSK defended strong and delivered two wickets in the first over. Mayank Aggarwal was sent back to the stands at the delivery of Chahar and PBKS skipper, KL Rahul followed suit.

This was just the beginning for Chahar. Next he dismissed Gayle whom Jadeja dived and caught and later he got Nicholas Pooran. Chahar gave PBKS a run for their money. While, Punjab was struggling to keep up at the end of the powerplay at 26-4, Chahar delivered his fourth wicket with Deepak Hooda.

PBKS score moved up the score by adding 31 runs with the partnership of Shahrukh Khan and Richardson. However,
Moeen Ali put an end to their partnership as he bowled out Richardson for the sixth wicket.

It was the 17th over and PBKS continued to struggle at 87-7. Shahrukh untethered continued to put his best foot forward but fell short of three runs to mark his half-century as he was caught by Jadega in the deep when delivered by Sam Curran. PBKS struggled to add only 6 runs in the last over and ended with a target of 106-8.

CSK marked a strong beginning with a strong bank of wickets led by Deepak Chahar. The first three overs were successful for PBKS as Mohammad Shami and Jhye Richardson gave away only 8 runs.
Faf du Plessis took it up on him and paced up the game by adding 2 well timed fours and 14 in the fourth over.

First from CSK to get back to the stand was Ruturaj Gaikwad at Arshdeep Singh’s delivery. Moeen Ali was next to bring CSK up to speed. He added two boundaries to CSK’s kitty.

CSK successfully at a glacial pace moved past fifty under the partnership of Ali and du Plessis.
12th Over was bleak for PBKS after an overthrow went for a four.

Moeen Ali upheld CSK’s shine by smashing couple of boundaries and scored 46 off 31 balls. He ended his successful play as he was caught in deep at the delivery of Murugan Ashwin. 15th over looked up for PBKS as Shami bowled Suresh Raina and Ambati Rayudu in 2 balls.

However, Sam Curran hit a boundary and successfully met the four runs and called it a day for PBKS. CSK finished off with a win at 107 runs /4.
