INTERNATIONAL NEWS

1. A two-day G20 policy workshop on the Green and Sustainable Growth Agenda for the Global Economy concluded in New Delhi.
2. India and Bhutan have reviewed the entire spectrum of bilateral cooperation, and discussed ways to further strengthen it across diverse sectors. Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra and his Bhutanese counterpart Aum Pema Choden co-chaired the India-Bhutan Development Cooperation Talks in New Delhi.
3. Indian-American policy expert Nisha Biswal becomes Deputy Chief Executive Officer of US finance agency.
4. Indian-American engineer Hirsh Vardhan Singh vying for 2024 US presidential race.
5. Saudi Arabia is set to host a Ukraine-organised peace summit amid the ongoing war in early August and invited officials from 30 countries, including India and Brazil, The Wall Street Journal has reported. The UK, South Africa and Poland are among those who have reportedly confirmed attendance.

1. Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has said that the country will be forced to use a nuclear weapon if Ukraine’s ongoing counteroffensive operation is a success.
2. Over 100 troops from Russia’s Wagner group in Belarus have moved closer to the border of Poland, PM Mateusz Morawiecki said.
3. A video purportedly showing moments before a suicide bomb blast exploded at a meeting of an Islamic political party in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, killing at least 40 people, has surfaced. Police said at least 130 persons sustained injuries in the incident.
4. A pilot landed his tourist plane in the sea off the coast of Fréjus in southern France on Sunday after the plane faced engine failure. All three occupants of the plane were unharmed.
5. In Thailand, at least ten people killed and more than hundred injured after a fireworks warehouse exploded in the country’s Narathiwat province bordering Malaysia. The explosion, which occurred on Saturday afternoon, destroyed 10 houses and partially damaged about 100 houses.
6. A Hong Kong court declined a government-requested ban on popular protest song ‘Glory to Hong Kong’

7. Sudanese civil aviation authority extended the closure of Sudan’s airspace until Aug. 15, except for humanitarian aid and evacuation flights, Khartoum International Airport said in a statement.
