INTERNATIONAL NEWS

1. The third soft skill training programme for the women entrepreneurs of Bangladesh was organised at the Indira Gandhi Cultural centre (IGCC), Dhaka in hybrid mode on Saturday. The programme is being organised by the High Commission of India in collaboration with the ICT Ministry of Bangladesh, Silk Oak Group and Women & eCommerce forum (WE).

2. Nearly 30 women entrepreneurs congregated at the Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre in Dhaka while more than 600 participants linked to the event through online mode. The soft skills training program is part of the ‘50 years of Bangladesh’ celebrations as well as the ‘75 years of Indian independence’ celebrations, ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’.

3. 14th Round of India-China Corps Commander Level meeting held earlier this month are positive and constructive: Chinese Defense Ministry said.

1. UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said that the situation on Ukraine’s border with Russia is increasingly alarming. In a tweet, the British PM urged Russia to engage in negotiations and avoid a reckless and catastrophic invasion.

2. Russia has placed about 100,000 troops, tanks, artillery and missiles near Ukraine’s border, but denies it plans to invade the former Soviet republic, which borders both Russia and the EU.

3. US calls UN Security Council for meet in Monday over Ukraine-Russian tension.

4. A beach in eastern Thailand was declared a disaster area on Saturday as oil leaking from an underwater pipeline in the Gulf of Thailand continued to wash ashore and blacken the sand. The leak from the pipeline owned by Star Petroleum Refining Public Company Limited (SPRC) started late on Tuesday and was brought under control a day later after spilling an estimated 50,000 litres.

5. North Korea has conducted its biggest missile launch since 2017. South Korea reported that the launch took place at 07:52 local time off North Korea’s east coast. Japan, South Korea and the US have all condemned the launch, the seventh test this month. The UN prohibits North Korea from ballistic and nuclear weapons tests and has imposed strict sanctions.

6. Israel President Isaac Herzog arrived in United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the first time amid regional tensions and met Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. During the talks, President Herzog condemned the recent drone attack on UAE claimed by Iran-backed Yemen’s Houthi rebels. Herzog was also expected to meet Jewish communities in the UAE.
