INTERNATIONAL NEWS

1. From 01 August India will be the president of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for the month. The nation will host various events in the three major areas of fight against terrorism, maritime security & peacekeeping. S. Tirumurti India’s permanent representative to the UN.

2. The 12th round of Corps Commander-level talks are took place at the Moldo border point on the Chinese side of the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh, on 31 Jul. The talks started at 10:30 AM as scheduled. Main focus on working out an agreement for the second phase of disengagement from Gogra & Hot Springs in Eastern Ladakh.

3. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh took stock of the construction of a key road by the Border Roads Organisation in Tajikistan, a strategically key country for India in Central Asia.

4. Army Chief Gen MM Naravane on 30 July held a telephonic conversation with his Nepalese counterpart Gen Purna Chandra Thapa, focusing on bilateral military & defence cooperation in the backdrop of evolving security scenario in the region.

5. BRICS states to adopt counter-terror action plan in Aug. The Brazil-Russia-India-China-South Africa (BRICS) counter-terrorism action plan will be adopted at a meeting of the national security advisers of the grouping scheduled for August month.

6. India-Russia ties, the navies of both countries have recently concluded the 12th edition of exercise INDRA NAVY. This two day biennial bilateral maritime exercise between Indian Navy and Russian Navy took place in the Baltic Sea from July 28-29, 2021.

7. Ex INDRA: After navy, Indian Army contingent leaves for Moscow for counter terrorism exercise: From August 1, the two countries will start off a 13-day mega military exercise in the Russian city of Volgograd. Counter-terror operations will be the focus of the 12th edition of the Ex INDRA which will help in deepening the bilateral military relations between the two countries. According to the Indian Army, for the 12th edition of the exercise there will be a participation of 250 personnel from each side.
The Indian Army contingent which will be participating in the exercise will deploy a mechanised infantry battalion.

8. The first goods train carrying stone chips to Bangladesh through the revived Haldibari -Chilahati rail link will leave from Damdim station of Alipurduar Division in Northeast Frontier Railway on Saturday, 31 July, night.

🌎WORLD NEWS🌍

1. The first G20 Culture Ministers two-day event Meeting was held from 29 to 30 July at G20 Summit in Rome. The culture ministers of the 20 largest economies in the world and 40 high-level cultural delegations attended the meeting.

2. Export oriented factories including Ready Made Garment (RMG) factories will open from 01 Aug (Sunday) in Bangladesh, rest lockdown continues. Bangladesh Government has further extended the closure of educational institutions till Aug 31.

3. According to latest reports in Afghanistan, atleast 13 Taliban fighters were killed and 16 others injured in operations conducted by Afghanistan National Defence and Security Forces at the outskirts of Takhar provincial center on 29 July.
